Hi, i currently have 3.8 ghz with E8500

want to raise to 4GHZ 24/7 ... will it be safe?

here is my BIOS:

maybe someone can tell what can i change? volts + etc. for make system more stable and how can i reach 4ghz,

thank you

Looks to me like your mem might be getting maxed.... cas4 at 800 might be ok for your ram, but higher might be a struggle... try going to cas 5

I would like to help but its a diff Mobo and CPU.

I'm 24/7 stable (Orthos with CPU fan @ 0 RPM so passive) @ 10x400=4GHZ or 8x500=4GHZ @ 1.056v.

Memory would normally be 4:4:4:12 or 5:5:5:15 (some types are 18) regardless I would set the FSB Strap to North Bridge 333.

List your hardware in SIG please.

Assuming your ram does 850mhz ....also is your E8500 an e0 stepping? It will say in CPU-Z

Hi,thank you for posts guys!
my CPU iz revision C0 stepping 6!

GURUSAN: do you think your setting will be ok?

Thank you

That's the old Stepping and many E8400's cannot even reach 4GHZ.

Hmm I said about "FSB Strap to North Bridge" above well since it can only be set to 266/333/400 and gurusan has put in 425, I am now not sure I have thought of correct setting and I cannot reboot to bios right now to check as downloading stuff.

woops......fixed below

If you have a C0 revision I suggest starting at 1.4V and monitoring temps. If its stable then knock down voltage.

I'd doubt you'd have any trouble reaching 4ghz with the cpu tbh... I've a C0 and it can hit 4.5 without too much diff

Again many E8400 C0's cannot reach 4GHZ, the fact he has a lower Multi means the CPU/MOBO/Memory all need to reach a higher FSB.

I have corrected my above post as I misread and thought the OP had an E8400 C0 :o

I had major issue a few bioses ago setting the DDR speed to what I actually wanted from drop down box when I wanted 1000mhz (was fine at 800mhz).

I found out Auto (same speed) worked and I ain't sure if issue is fixed but I see no reason to not simply leave it Auto as the Memory will follow the FSB in 1:1 at Auto.

well, if i set RAM auto, will it work?
thanks

Yes if you want 1:1, I simply crashed at 500FSB(2000QP) choosing 1000mhz for the Memory.

If I set to Memory Auto it was same speeds but does not crash and can Orthos all day long.

Again this may be fixed for me in newer Bioses but I see no point in even changing from Auto.
