Beetlejuice! My friends were older than me and put it on, I must have been about 5, the bit where the couple decay whilest looking at each other has haunted me ever since.
Ghostbuster 2 probably when I was around 5 or 6 scared the hell out of me. The painting and the ghost who flies through the sky with a pram to get the baby had me freaked for a while
i cant remember the name of the film, its from the 70s
it had 3-4 short stories
the 1 that scared me was 1 about a devil doll
that if the chain around its neck come off it comes to life and kills you
the woman in the film slams it down on the table and the chain falls off
for the next 15mins it chases her around the house trying to get her
she manages to get it in the oven and cooks it, but when she opens the oven the spirit enters her, it finishes with her sitting at the door with a knife waiting 4 her hubby to return
Saw The Burning when I was about 14. I've never looked at a pair of garden shears the same since, and to this day I view abandoned canoes with the utmost suspicion.
I went to see The Exorcist when it originally came out and that really scared me at the time.
It didn't help that I also believed in an imaginary god at the time.
I've seen the film recently and its like a comedy now.
A friend's mum thought it was fine for us to watch Robocop at my mate's birthday party. I was nine. Technically not a particularly scary film but the violence was pretty intense. I don't think any film has properly scared me since then; it must have blown a fuse in my head or something!
Poltergeist, I got to see loads of movies when I was around 9 because my mum worked in a video shop for a while so we had free movies every night, any scary 80's film you mention I will probably have quite happily watched around that time but Poltergeist just freaked me out for some reason, I'm not sure I've ever watched it the whole way through even now
No other movie really springs to mind. When I was very young, the movie Hook(starring Robin Williams) had a scene with a pirate being locked in a chest and then filled with scorpions, that really messed with my head! Not sure what possessed them to put that in a kids movie!
Alien/Aliens, didn't sleep well for weeks. The concept still scares me to this very day, not helped by all the books i've read from the universe which go into even more horrifying detail. *shivers*
