I've noticed that since my folks had their windows changed (10-15 year old wooden double glazing) to UPVC their DAB radio performs badly.

I've not had the chance to try the radio here (c.5 year old UPVC).

Has anyone else had a problem with their DAB and modern double glazing?

Had no trouble , DAB flaws everything

We have Dab radio at work (can’t even get a phone signal @ work you need to go outside) and DAB max signal .. + with Bakery machinery going also

Some of the modern DG has a film of metal (E-glass) which can affect signal strength

Correct.

Our DG has the metal film and its a ball ache even getting a signal to mobile phones. As soon as I walk out of the door, the signal hits full. :(

Why? What are the better alternatives?

FM radio's.

They work everywhere in the world.
They cost from 50p upwards new.
They are/can be allot smaller
They consume less power
Basically a 100 years of refinement, the technology = win

DAB radio's become obsolete, as the tech keeps changing.

It's "radios" mater :)

I'm not aware of any DAB radios that are obsolete?

FM is much better in the long run. If you can manipulate the waves to a greater extent you can get much higher sound quality and much more information sent via radio waves. DAB is good in the mean time though.

DAB is a crap technology /end

Agreed. I have been very disappointed with my digital radio. Not only is the quality no better than FM but the quality of the stations and programming is poor (with the exception of Planet Rock) and the expansion of stations we were promised hasn't happened.

Planet rock nearly closed didn't it.
