Things I'm getting for Christmas

Already had my present, my parents have decorated my room and bought me a wall stand for my new 42" TV :)

I've asked my family for several years now not to buy me anything. The thing is, I appreciate the holiday in terms of just having a nice peaceful day, not material accumulation. However, at 13 I felt very different. Although, I've never been well off posts like the OP's just reek of how spoilt children are becoming nowadays. Even if I did want anything, I'd be lucky to get even one of the above. But, I bet that the OP would feel incredibly hard done by if he didn't receive even one item out of that list. Seriously, some people don't know they're born.

Since when was it ever not money involved?

I never said it wasn't. However it is becoming more and more about the cash with parents feeling the pressure of having to provide more expensive gifts for their demanding offspring.

Christmas for me has always been about the people I've spent it with, even as a kid but then I suppose it depends on your upbringing. I'm very lucky to still have a complete set of parents, something I almost lost when I was 8 so maybe that gave me the kick up the arse I needed in order to see the bigger picture.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and I'm a big kid. The decorations go up on 1st December and I have an Xmas CD in my car at present etc, but the money that people throw at presents is unbelievable and in my eyes, unnecessary.

Totally agree here. It is annoying seeing kids screaming and shouting in shops about what they want, knowing yourself that they will get it.

I'm getting nothing for Christmas. Spending it alone since I was supposed to go away when work got in the way, now it got cancelled and I'm stuck. Gutted is not the word. She gave me a massive Atlas (which I asked for), so I'll be reading that whilst eating takeaways probably. Oh well.

All I want is a lovely Christmas dinner, Christmas day is just another day for me really.

aye me too

as long as I get a nice meal & pud with my family , enough plonk to get me merry then an afternoon of peace sitting with the fire on full blast watching rubbish on the tv with more drink and a selection of sarnies, crisps, nuts , meat and cakes then I will be happy as a pig in ****

I want the sopranos boxset, but its not out on blu ray yet.:(

I cant wait to watch more (i missed it on tv stupidly), my flat mate has season 1 and i want to see the other 5 too badly! (yeah waiting for it on blue ray would be pretty awesome though)

i'm just wanting a festival ticket, money and a few games tbh.

hopefully buy a new phone or something with the money in the new year, my ones on it's way out.

I didn't ask for anything and haven't really since I started working - I buy all my own useless gadgets that I don't need now :p

Will probably end up getting some money but £200 doesn't seem as much as it did at 16 !
