Gone back from vista to xp

Fyi this isn't a vista bashing thread so don't start getting angry with me please

When i was using vista i'd download from sites like megaupload and gamershell at around 400kbps and get speeds of around 250kbps from usenet.

However now im using xp i seem to be getting 130kbps download speeds from megaupload and gamershell ect, and around 100kbps from usenet.

Does anyone know as to why this may be happening?

What's your wireless connection speed?

I'm using a "G" card and get 48MPS, with 2 bars signal quality...

I'm using the Belkin N1 and i have no probs what so ever m8,I too download from gamershell for game patches and things,and my speeds are always top notch

Many have this issue on Vista, its down to your Hardware and drivers (Wireless side that is).

Can only think its a driver issue with XP.

Could it be the drivers then, because on vista i never had to install any but on xp i had to install drivers from a cd and now i'm getting slower speeds.

It could well be due to Vista being able to dynamically alter the TCP receive window settings to something larger (or conversely, smaller), whereas on XP it's permanently fixed at a low value.

No I mean in post #6 that he has to either sort out his drivers or buy a new WiFi kit.

It should be no slower in Vista.

would it not be better to go to the manufacturers website and get the latest drivers rather than what ever out of date crap you get on the cd

No I am reading it back to front (due to issues many got on Vista at launch)
