What film scared you the most as a kid?

Ghostbusters I, my dad let me stay up and watch it on TV. I had to sleep with the light on afterwards and my eyes were glued to my bookcase expecting books to start flying off it lol I think I was about 9 at the time.

Any clown in any movie scared me to death. I had a bad experience at a party where I ended up crying in front of all my mates. Man, that's the first time I've remembered that in about 4-5 years.

I used to love watching films as a kid. The great thing was I had a local video store about 2 minute walk from my house. I knew the guy pretty well and he would let me rent out 15/18s when I was about 11/12. He would have to ring my dad who would simply reply with 'ye that's fine'. Wooo! I could stomach most things from that point on after witnessing some of the scary movies out at the time. The first Halloween used to get me though. That mask freaked me out.

Brokeback Mountain :(..

Anywhoo, I didn't really watch any films when I was a kid, apart from Ghost Busters which did kinda frighten me! Tbh I've only really started watching films now.

nightmare on elm street (the one with the hot nurses and johnny deep getting sucked through the bed) i remember watching that when i was ten at my nans house couldnt sleep for a week after i saw it

arachnophobia, that film haunts me still, im crap scared of spiders due to that film.

Poltergeist
Nightmare On Elm Street
Jaws (took me a while to swim back in the dark areas of swimming pools after that one)

Only 2 to really give me the heebie jeebies were both Quatermass.

First was the film, Quatermass and the Pit, could never watch it from the point the guy went in the 'ship' until my late teens.

And the other was a 1979 TV series with the late Sir John Mills playing Quatermass. Had a scene with dead terradactyls (sic?) dotted around Stone Henge, couldn't sleep for nights after that.

You lot are sodding wimps! ID4?! I mean wtf!

The Omen and John Carpenters - The Thing were two films that I remember scaring the balls out of me. That haunting operatic tune in The Omen still scares me today! As for The Thing, the doggy/tentacle scene just freaks me out! :(

What about the scene when the dark shadow passes by the screen? So simply but very creepy and chilling. I love stuff like that. What you don't see makes your imagination go wild

Another vote for the Exorcist - I was quite young when I first saw it, and I kept seeing that scary rock/cliff thing they flashed up occasionally in my mind's eye. Brr.
