Windows Mobile 6.1 - Thoughts?

Compared to other Window Mobile o/s's...i would say yes but its still a POS O/S:p. Still as clunky and awkward as ever...as for Flash support??, if im not mistaken it does support flash but not very well tbqh.

Im much more happier with my Blackberry device, it isnt as clunky and awkward as WinMo is....dont think i will ever go back to WinMo ever again...Blackberry is where its at.

I use WinMo 6.1 and it's fine. Nicely customisable and versatile. Tried a Blackberry Storm the other day and didn't like it at all. The layout was very counter-intuitive and a bit clunky.

Tbh i had the Storm for a week myself and i didnt like it myself very much but got myself a Bold and have been loving it...The Storm sadly shouldnt have been released the way it was on both sides of the pond...but i guess the xmas rush had something to do with it. Im hoping the next gen of Storm will be a much better phone.

We've been trialing the Bold where I work and the feedback so far is the battery life is terrible unless you turn off 3g, back light times and a bunch of other features which then makes it kind of pointless.

WinMo is stuck in the 90's its not moved on at all, its just clunky and has to have itself ripped apart and put back together by third parties to be "acceptable" then all this tinkering means you need powerhouses to run the damn mobiles which then eat batteries for breakfast. I won't be touching WinMo until 7, the hardware is excellent HTC have come on leaps and bounds, sorry to say the software definitely hasnt! Thank god android and symbian and even apple (to some extent) have given MS more than enough decent competition to pour some money out of that never ending pot of theirs into a decent mobile OS project.

Indeed the battery life on the Bold is pretty dire but i get a good days use out of it and thats with 3G on...dont really use WIFI or Bluetooth unless i need it....in fact i get a few hundred emails a day and also spend quite a bit of time on the BB Messenger program...not windows messenger but the built in one.

But by 6pm ive still got a few bars left on mine and i just have the standard battery in it. But saying that i always charge my phone everynight and i got the charging dock for my Bold the other day...looks the part. So battery life for me isnt such a problem...even at work i have a usb cable that i connect my pc to my phone and charge it up if need be.

Mind you coming from the godawful POS phone thats the HTC Touch Diamond...this phone is far more better and the battery life on the Bold simply rubs the Diamonds face in it:p.

Battery life on my Xperia is fine and it gets abused with Push....

Getting my email takes 2 clicks at most, you're probably doing something wrong.

I've been using WinMo phones for a good 3 or so years now and I've finally given up and gone to a Nokia (S60 3rd) smart phone. Much nicer - and I don't miss the touch screen at all :D

Still use it, and still love it :)

I just make sure the rom does not go through its Bloatware adding phase, and my device is twice as quick.

Waiting for the Touch HD pro (if they make it) then i will upgrade from my tytnII. Nothing has tempted me away from WinMo yet!

My phone list since i went winmo - SPV/SPVE200/C500/M5000/M3200/TYTNII

I have been using WinMo for all of a few days, but I love it so far. A few niggles, and still getting used to it, but the level of customisation available is awesome :)

Had Win Mo 6.1 on my Kaiser - to summarise:-

Great if you're a comp geek and like mucking about with the phone to customise it - you can get them looking really cool and performing really well - loved my Kaiser (RIP).

Rubbish if you want something that just works "out of the box" - if you want that a G1 or iPhone would be better.

Got a Touch HD coming today so looking forward to much fiddling again :-)

Exactly the same for me, i was back using some of the original WinMo phones (the universal for instance) and over the years i've realised i'm fighting it when theres no need. Microsoft need to buck there acts up.

Gotta second that. I went MPX200 -> SPVC500 -> TYTNII.
The TYYNII is slow as hell with operator firmware on. I blow it away and put the standard HTC formware on along with a few tweaks.

I too am waiting on the HD :D

windows is slow :( kind of hate my htc touch!

Did you stop the device from doing its network customisations when it first booted? Its the golden rule on these devices.

My TYTNII was replaced yesterday, and I forgot. It was slooow. So, I ran clear storage. When you have set the time/date and calibrated the screen, the device boots. You need to soft reset (wedge the stylus into the little hole, usually on the bottom) before the little notification box comes up to say the device is being customised.

If you see the little box pop up before you reset it, too late, and you will have to go through the procedure again.

It takes 2 minutes, and the device is twice as quick :)
