GoW 1 vs GoW 2 - Why is my brother moaning saying they are 2 different games!!!

Awwwww my god, me and my brother were playing Gears of War 2 earlier, and he kept moaning saying that the whole game is played totally different compared to GoW 1 and he things the 2nd one is crap.

Are they really that different? Never played the 1st one online as I thought it was rubbish, but quite enjoying the 2nd one.

So what do you guys think?
 
My understanding is that they fixed some exploits online (ie the rolling shotgun trick or whatever its called) and also the constant lag (which i have not experienced).

Gears of War 2 has the better gameplay but i enjoyed the first one more for the boss fights.

Just purely for the MP mate, not single player :)
 
From what i understand they have fixed many of the 'noob' exploits from the original, for example the shotgun was incredibly overpowered in the original and while i haven't tried it online in GoW2 i understand they've decreased its power significantly.

Sounds to me like your bro relied heavily on naughty tactics such as the shotgun and the chainsaw hoover of doom

This is based on my experience though and i haven't even tried GoW2 online so there's a good chance i'm wrong D:
 
I found the GoW2 campaign to be far more enjoyable. Better pacing, more interesting environments, feels more epic. That said, the boss fights in 1 are better.
 
You cant beat 2 for single player its just an epic game. Horde is fantastic and is taking up a lot of my time over the weekend. Mp is good fun but i didnt really play the first mp so cant compare on that.
 
Thing that gets to me is when people say which is best, loads of people say mp is better in 1 and 2 is rubbish. I wish these people also talked about the single player as i think it does give the game a bad rep and people judge there purchase on those comments.
 
Yeah one of the things they changed was the stopping power so you can slow/stop people with gunfire to prevent the shotgun runners, the developers did not want that type of gameplay in a cover shooter game. The free downloadble videos with the developers on marketplace for GoW2 are pretty good, I enjoyed watching them last night.
 
haven't played it online yet (played a bit of the single player only but been really in to PC gaming currently).

My friends have a clan though I believe on GOW, and they told me that it is very laggy. One tells me it is extremely buggy (more so than the first) the other denies it and just says it lags too much.

Not my opinion though sooooo
 
Gears2 has good single player but they have seriously messed up multiplayer (although Horde is ok but it wont keep people playing for 2 years)

Gears1 is a peach, one of a kind. I have played it almost constantly for over 2 years and still enjoy multiplayer.

I bought Gears2 on release and never expected for a second it would be anything other than awesome... how wrong I was, within 20mins I was upset (15mins to find a match and 5mins playing :p ) it just felt so slow, so detached, no excitement that Gears1 had. Then theres the lag, the slow times finding a game, no player server lists, shotgun and more

Even the new additions like smoke grenades and wall tagging dont work imo, it's annoying getting knocked to floor 3 times in a row and annoying running past a wall tagged grenade thats been there for like 2mins and even though you are a miles away you die without any chance to stop it or get out of the way.

Look on the Epic forums, theres hundreds of new posts everyday with people complaining.

I am back to Gears1, still as busy as ever online and must better imo.
 
hmm, Honestly...

It's like carrying on Gears of War 1 from what i can tell. Yeah theres new features and executions and stuff. But it's not so different as to spark a huge debate surely
