Subaru set to pull out of WRC!

Will be very sad to see, although as already stated they have been pretty much nowhere for the last few seasons and with things as they are in the world at the moment its gives them a good reason to pack up shop. Sad thing is it gives the FIA some weight behind there cutting costs at all costs agenda.

**** me.

Cant blame them really, they have been doing **** latley.
Lets hope they will be back in 2010 with a car worth looking at.

What are the new rules for that year anyway?

:( How terrible. They might not have been competing well as of late but I always enjoyed watching them.

Many thanks to the kind mod - didn't think - too overcome with emotion!

S2000 spec cars, meaning that the WRX/STi will have to be changed as it's closer to Group N at the moment.

This really sucks as for most people Subaru was to WRC what Ferrari are to F1 (me included).
It was a sad day when Mitsu pulled out of WRC, it's a sadder day now that Subaru are gone, even if it is for only a year hopefully.

It's just been on the news on Radio 2 so looks definate, Proper crap news, I bet Colin Mcrae (RIP) is turning in his grave :(

Next years WRC is a complete joke, I bet Dave will be trying to get some of there money back for the TV rights, be interesting to see what happens in 2010 as a lot of Subaru's success has come on the back of WRC if you ask me and the new impreza isn't going to sell as well without the rally pedigree.

They will also drop the coverage for the WRC.

Wow, those S2000 Rally Cars look like junk - Corsa, Fiesta, etc etc? Ok these cars have a place in Rally but not at the top flight where it should be about turbo nutter Impreza's etc :(

Id be more concerned if the coverage meant that I could actually watch WRC, but if the sport dies and I dont have to watch the bloody awefull Dave coverage, atleast there will be some good points.

There is only 5% difference from the Eurosport footage.

Subaru are WRC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not for a long time. It's been five years now since Solberg's success and they're trading far to much on past glories. Whilst they have a shedload of history in the sport, you can't rely on that forever.

They were relying hugely on the new Impreza to make them competitive with the Fords and Vauxhalls again but it just didn't happen. Given the cost of participation and the fact that they weren't going to be getting any good results any time soon I can't say I'm that surprised to see them go.

Well Loeb will be gone so at least there will be a new champion.
And that will really lend the WRC a load of credibility won't it? The only way anyone could beat Loeb was to change the rules enough to make him leave.
