Ronaldo Kicks Dawson

For committing assault on a football field?

I realise this particular case may not be the most grievous of cases, but given what footballers get away with at times there should be more criminal investigations.

Footballers are all big girls, and the refs are to soft on them. There cant even be a hard tackle these days without somone falling around crying or the refs giving perthetic free kicks. The game should be a bit more like rugby and let the players get on with the physical side of it if someone get a kick then so what its football, if you dont like it dont play the game. The game should be more like it was years ago, proper men flying in with tackles and having little scuffles here and there. So what if ronaldo give a kick to someone, leave the other player give him a little dig back when the teams play again. There is to much moaning in football, if u get kicked just get on with it and stop crying about it.

Jesus. This happens every single game of 5-a-side I've ever played.
No he shouldn't have done it and he's turned into a real petulant idiot this season, but come on and get real. 'assault'?

I wonder if FA realise that a weeks wages simply isn't much of a deterrant. Start giving them match bans and people will start thinking twice and same for all those people who dive and get people booked for no reason.

Kicking another person is assault, no matter how you try to dress it up mate.

Maybe it is - but if you charged every footballer every weekend, everyone would be banned before Christmas

It was a stupid thing to do, and he shouldnt have done it but he also tried to appologise straight away and Dawson slapped his hand away (at least he tried to appologise)

Just because Dawson is a tit (and he most certainly is) doesn't make what happened right.

Did the ref spot it? Would he have sent him off if he had spotted it? I don't know but he was giving everything Man Utd's way all afternoon. People have been sent off for less.

It's sometimes embarrassing being a fan of football! Such girls its unbelievable.
The amount of times I tried getting my mates over here to watch 'soccer' and for something gay like a dive to happen, or wimping on the floor for ages "Why's he doing that?"..."Oh....it's part of the game?"
Lame!

dawson didnt make a meal of it which probably helped ronaldos case. i can understand being kicked a lot in football but whens theres no ball and the other players walking away hes got no excuse and should face the consequences.

Drunken Duncan got a prison sentance, I'd happily see Ronaldo do a stretch in Barlinne prison ;)

Football is a bit soft now, but only at the top level, and I think that is because of the continental influence we now have in the Premier League. Most of the English players are still pretty tough, but even some of them are influenced by foreign players and tend to play-act a bit (Joe Cole is a perfect example of this).

Also, there is so much money in football now and the players are worth so much that the clubs are desparate to keep everyone fit and healthy, and I think teams have been able to influence the rules and attitude of the game. Really though, I don't mind that we have had to sacrifice the physical side of football because that has been replaced by a generally higher technical standard in the game, there is much more skill and flair on show now and English teams are dominating Europe.

It was very petulant of Ronaldo and you could tell he was getting more and more annoyed as the game went on. It is obviously due to frustration that he hasn't been able to replicate last season's form.

I agree that he shouldnt be charged with assualt.. that would just be silly. The kick wouldn't of hurt, but as a principle I think he should have recieved some form of punishment, match bans, fines, make him shave his head? :D

lol. Just lol.

I'd love to see football get to a stage whereby a player kicking another player in the area giving away a penalty doesn't get a yellow card anymore, rather a prison sentence.

While we're at it lets start charging rugby players with assault for each tackle they make, or maybe boxers can have a charge of a assault for each round of boxing they fight.

Seems to me that people are just jealous and would love to see someone be punished just because they don't like the person, rather than actually use any common sense and getting over their bitterness.
