Nipped out last night in the Westfield to buy a paper.

Got home 3.5hrs later.

Kept driving past all the newsagents until I got to Windermere.

I love this car.

What's your longest "detour"?
 
From bangor to londonderry at 4 in the morning just so i could reach my cars top speed on the glenshane pass. :D

Edit - that was a two hundered mile round trip for no reason

Don't get me started, everytime I get in the car with my friend he decides to take at least 2 detours.
 
Marseille, South of France, 1800 mile round trip last weekend. It was that or Sainsburys for my shopping, and I still drove around the block when I got back because I didn't want to stop...
 
the night fifa 09 came out, i was bored with nowt to do, went a drive to cumbernauld supermarket to get it but drove straight past cumbernauld and up the tak-ma-doon road, absolutely amazing drive, got home at like 4 in the morning, done something like 100 miles for the hell of it. 1.6 megane, not exactly a sports car, but it was mega fun nonetheless. i imagine in a better car it would have been heaven.
 
De-tours are great, went to Tesco one night - about 10 miles away. Ended up outside Alton Towers, yeah work wasn't too happy when I didn't make it the next day! ;)

Love that road, makes a good if short detour if you go up the Crow Road from Lenoxtown and come back past the resevoir!

Drove to Windermere a few weeks ago from Leicester and stayed in a hotel there with the missus, lovely place :)
 
There's some awesome roads around Kendal. Some with evilly sharp blind corners, and some epic views to boot.

Fantastic place for a hoon about in the right conditions.
 
On a trip from South Wales to Belfast, detoured via the ferry to Wexford just so that I could drive up through Southern Ireland rather than just flying up from Cardiff Airstrip.

Boss wasn't happy about that expenses claim until he realised I'd had to do a job in Glasgow the following day which would've meant 3-4 flights.
