Who is ill today?

I’m ill, but it's strange. One moment I just feel a bit achy, then the next a severe case of nausea or the squits. Hope it goes away soon because I really need to go and see my dad in hospital but I can't while I'm like this.

Im slightly hungover today because of football last night but luckily I have a job where I can randomly take days off without any notice. So I did exactly that today. :D

I've been ill in bed since Saturday, went to docs yesterday and he says i have a viral infection so gave me a sick note until 22nd (good time to be ill when working for royal mail).

I'm off today and was yesterday too I have a very nasty cheat infection and a general cold as well.

I can hardly breath

EDIT - my doctors don't do notes they say take 3 - 4 days off company can't do nothin.....ok doc whatever you say

 What a kind Doctor. I was diagnosed with a Viral Infection last week and the guy wouldn't even entertain a sick note. Even when I went back after 5 days of continous symptoms.

Yeah you can do a self certificate but my boss wanted me to phone in everyday i was off at 6am so now i dont need to bother.

Stop browsing those css hax sites then, and you won't pickup a damn cheat infection.

Watchout for MEDI VAC, it mght get you :D

I wouldn't want someone sniffing and coughing sat near me at work.
People get colds. It's hardly life threatening. Much of the UK workforce has turned into a bunch of limp-wristed, sensitive weaklings where a sore throat is enough to stay at home.

I remember kids like that at school. Always had mummy send a note in for the most trivial of reasons.

It's not life threatening, but being ill and being productive don't go together. If you're ill, and have something that could easily spread to your colleagues, I'd much rather you stayed at home.

Or, you could come in, make the rest of the office ill, and reduce productivity across the board?

EDIT: I should probably add, this is highly dependant on the kind of work you do.

Yes but depends what work you do.. If your a technician visiting workstations I for one would not like to put anyone at risk because of me coughing and spluttering. That's why I opted not to go into work for as it just is not nice.

I'm ill today. They guy opposite me had a chest infection last week, and despite our best efforts, he refused to go home and stay there, proclaiming he "felt fine to work, it's not that bad". He didn't seem to understand that nobody really cared about him, we just didn't want to catch it off him.

Now, predictably, i have a chest infection the day before I go away for christmas. Hooray for travelling like this! Grrrrr.

Edit: i'm still at work! Hypocritical i know, but i cant exactly call in sick the day before my holiday, looks a bit suspicious. Also, balls to em. A woman came in yesterday with Shingles. Seriously, some people just don't think.
