ive got the pioneer lx-5080d. Outstanding picture quality on sd and hd video. I paid £3.5k for mine a year ago. You can now get the updated model (lx-5090d) 1K cheaper than what i paid! Id say grab one at this price, it simply blows all other screens away

I paid £1645 for mine just over a week ago. With 5yr guarantee.
im going to cry. I held out for as long as i could before i got the pioneer. It was the first plasma i had seen that convinced me to get rid of my panny crt. Im really fussy about pq. I had to bite the bullet eventually. There will always be bigger, better cheaper!
I was off sick for a few months, in bed and just watching the 40" LCD
As soon as I was able to sit down comfily for 2 hours , I treated myself to watching Sin City for the 1st time on BR (watching it about 5 times before in the cinema and on dvd) and watched this on the Pioneer
OMFG - it was just incredible, yes Im sure it helps that the quality of the imported (Canadian) disc was pretty good already, but even so
The blacks where truelly black (the picture merged completely with the black bars top and bottom), the green eyes in one scene and the red lips/dress in another where just incredible - and the detail......absolutely jaw dropping
Im REALLY glad I spent a small fortune on this set, although it would be interesting to see the same BR on one of the latest Panasonic PZ screens just to see the difference (if any) - I would probably be a little/lot disheartened at the minimal amount of difference, so Im not too anxious to see it lol
Its also a little difficult comparing different screen sizes as the 50" panel will always have additional punch due to the larger size, but watching the same scenes on the Samsung LCD just wasnt so mouthwatering
