Hmm is it true you have to change something on the dish itself to receive HD?
Only if you don't already have standard Sky+
Sky+ to SkyHD+ is a simple box swap - hence why most people really don't think the £60 installation is fair.
HD content is great - just a shame there isn't enough of it at the moment!
Are you sure stoofa? I spoke to a friend who said when he went from + to HD+ the Sky crew had to change the LNBs on the dish?

Sorry but make sure you get a Sky +HD box because the old Thompson ones have an inherant fault. The best ones are Siemens and Pace. They are fast and smooth. The Thompsons chug along like an old cable box and more than ever they shutdown for no reason and love getting the Green screen.
If they lie to you tell them you are going to cancel the contract and they will soon cough up A SKY+HD box from Pace at least.
As for your LMB You could have the wrong dish even though you may have the correct LMB. Or vice versa. Usually they want to get it over and done with as quickly as possible but don't let them get away with it as this is a new contract and a new installation and you are paying for it.
As far as I am aware Siemens do not make Sky HD boxes - Samsung do. I have a Samsung HD box and its superb.
i am going to look into Hard drive upgrades very soon so will keep you posted with the samsung box.
My fear is that the last time the sky guy came out, he couldnt do anything because he was a 1 man team and he needed a special support team with a double ladder or something.
Reckon I should request a special support team just incase?
Also Im interested in how W1z got his HD for £75.
The lady told me that the price is £99 and I thought that was an offer, but it seems to be the normality.

There is a thread over at AV Forums about upgrading the HD.
At the moment there are three known working drives:
Samsung 1TB (Check exact model number)
Seagate 750GB (Must be from the DB35.3 family, the 320GB drive supplied is also from this family)
Seagate 500GB (Again from the DB35.3 family - extremely rare this drive as it has been discontinued, so expect to pay a premium)
These are the only confirmed working drives for the Samsung.
Many have tried numerous WD 500GB - 1TB, Seagate 500GB - 1TB, etc all without luck.
Symptom is box reboots itself every 5-10 minutes.
