Opened my hotmail account and found a message that says it was sent from my hotmail email address

The title is "Hey, just found your account!‏" which of course has me worried, hotmail blocked the message but I opened it up anyway.

It wants me to click on a link to view a message, which of course I havn't done.

Below it has this

"PLEASE DO NOT REPLY - This is being sent from an unattended mailbox.

You have received this message because you

Am I getting myself worked up over nothing? Why does it appear to come from my account if there's nothing in my sent folder?

I've been getting loads of spam lately. All of them with the subject 'your order' 'order query' and similar stuff like that, with a link in the main part of the mail to unsubscribe or verify order details.

I hazard a guess that if I clicked on any of them there would probably be an advert for some 'special' medicine for certain parts of my anatomy:rolleyes:

Check out my Googlemail Spam Filter!...

And that's just the last 12 Hours or so!!!...

Plus anyone know what all those numbers in my contacts list are??.. they appeared about a week ago and I don't know where from!!..

Opened my hotmail

i've identified the problem

replace that with gmail, no more inbox spam, and a much much better email service

i've got another account that i've had open with gmail, and i've ONLY used it for a facebook account, it's been open for about 2 years and never had a single spam email in the spam filter or inbox :)

Thats what my Yahoo mail is for!... Never had any Spam in that yet either!!...

Its called NDR (Non Delivery Receipt) spam - Rather clever way of ensuring spam gets delivered. Basically they spoof the sending address as your own email address and send spam to some mail address that doesnt exist. The mail bounces and your receives the NDR bounce email containing the spam.
