Why do some customers think they can **** you off?

You did the right thing by staying calm, and just because you wont be getting paid more for doing so doesn't mean you haven't earned anything.

Hopefully one day she'll realise she's moronic, and ranting and raving gets her nowhere. Then be reminded of the times shes looked a fool and have one self loathing giant super cringe.

Hey Malc, how is the new job going? Still enjoying it? Grats again on getting back on the employment ladder.

Just Briefly & Cheers.

I'm getting used to working again & nights so Yes I am completly knackered the morning after a shift & at the end of the week I feel like a Zombie. The job itself though is bareable but Brain damage of the highest order :p
Open box, Stax shelf, People keep nicking it off shelf so open box, stax shelf  There is no end to the job only a time I clock on & a time I clock off. My manager is Sound though & pretty chilled about how he deals with me, Co workers are a mixxed bag & the most important thing when it comes to it being a swift 9 hours or a soul destroying 9 hour marathon of head pain :p
I can do it though & I've just finshed my 2nd week, Soon enough there will be some toy tokens to spend which should help in coping with this whole work nonsence :D + :p

One good thing though, I can spend my cash without people asking me where I got it :D

The general public are scum, you get used to this when working in shops as I did many years ago.

:p
Most of the Customers I have met so far have been Sound, I've only been there 2 weeks/10 shifts & only 8 of them have been when the store is open, Still I already have people that go out there way to come & say "Morning"
I like my customers, It's just the poorly brought up ***** that are a problem.

I worked in a supermarket for 5 years, doing the busy friday night and saturday, and I can't honestly remember any rude customers.

May be just my memory failing, but I think if you genuinely want to help people respond positively - just my opinion.

Yeah sucks in retail when things don't go the customers way. I actually used to not mind when a customer moaned at me as i just gave them a look of "DO I ACTUALLY CARE" they seemed to soon get a grip i wasn't actually interested in what they where going on about and just waited for a manager to come then they got an earful instead as they showed they cared

its not just the customers, most retail managers are ****s as well, when I worked for homebase I ended up hating them all, then on my last day the noobs put me on checkouts, lets just say some customers got freebies that day.

I will also never shop in sole trader after their **** of a manager told me that I had stolen my broken shoes, I didnt want a refund I wanted some shoes that were fit for purpose, ******* ****, he was so damn rude. I had a receipt and everything and wernt even 6 months old but he basically told me I could have stolen the box so I could return old shoes so he wasnt going to replace them, after a few calls to headoffice I had two pairs of new shoes and an apology, hope that **** got sacked

Bengaboy, just try to care less about them. Why should you give a toss about their opinion of you?

You can take satisfaction from doing a job well, but not all customers will present you with that opportunity. If they're going to be a dick about it, just do what you can and forget about it.

Strangely enough though despite being in sales for years, and now sort of sales/customer service. I've never had many issues with bad customers, I think it's perhaps a control thing. These days I don't deal with customers directly unless they ask for the manager, but even then I don't have any issues dealing with it. Usually if a customer starts off snippy or sarcastic by the end they've apologised and thanked me.

Well it was my impression that when people asked for help they genuinely wanted it and were grateful for any advise, all it need was the slightest keeness or willingness (and im not the best at either tbh) and they responded well, yes you got the odd complete **** but then you just ignored it. Funny, when it becomes a job you get used to it.

The good thing about retail is the people I worked with, and something I miss in a better job, where camaraderie is somewhat lacking or none existent.

she expects it to be in stock a week before xmas? her only silly fault.
I work at a fabric store where we make bespoke curtains. We were only guaranteeing for xmas mid to end of november, and even for that we're struggling! We're now working towards the third week of january and people are still coming in saying "I can have them done for xmas then?"...........NO u bint theres 8 days till xmas, our usual turn around is 2 weeks go away and stop moaning like a spoilt child!!

Actually reminds me back at the shop once a customer was getting really angry at something but eventually he needed to speak to our manager (assistant manager was on shift). He ended up getting really shirty with him and I remember our manager saying "are you threatening me?" to the customer which it turns out he was. Now our manager was a huge bloke, 6.4, down the gym all the time, and the customer just an ordinary sort of bloke. I was left wondering in what other situation this would ever happen :p . Only in a shop (or over a phone!).

LOL it's amazing, go shopping in the U.S. and see if you get a similar experience!

Sadly customer service, both face to face and via call centres, has gone down the tubes in this country. Most shops employ complete idiots who have no idea about that they are selling or who they are representing and have absolutely no idea about how to treat customers. Their lack of customer service ability is only outshone by their apathy towards any situation.

Getting a good customer service representative is a breath of fresh air, they are easily able to sort out almost any situation and diffuse any tension that may exist and are a joy to deal with. They're few and far between I'm sad to say.

I can be a bit of a **** when I shop in the purple shirt place, nearly all of the stuff on their shelves is either not priced, the shelf edge ticket is the wrong one or the items are stacked under another products, I get fed up of having to explain simple things to the staff just to find an item I need.

The day's of having staff who knew about their products are long gone.

I just go in for the giggles. End up asking the CAs questions they can't answer. Am quite impressed though when they do answer without sticking their faces in a book. :p

shops get what they pay for.

I used to work for the then Red shirt brigade in customer services, The rubbish we had to put up with there was unbelivable. You do all you can to help people out and no one is ever grateful. Honestly 8/10 people who came to the CS desk wanting advice or returning faulty goods etc were total nobs.

Retail = Never ever Again, EVER!!!!!! It's just not worth it.
