just noticed a smear on my filter, so i tried to clean it off with a lens cloth and its just smeared it more over the lens.. ~(seems a bit oily substance)

any magic tips for cleaning lenses and filters ?

are microfibre dusting cloths good? they seem a bit harsh ?

How do you get oil on your camera?

I'd use a damp cloth and gently wipe the glass. Then blast off the excess bits with compressed air :)

Infact i'm now going to go order some.

.

its not oil, as such, just something oily..

and i have no idea how it got there, i just noticed it.

i was taking pics on a dancefloor recently, and im not surprised if someone has reached out and touched it with their grubby little hands.

was only a tiny dot before, but cleaning it has made it worse..

I've always just used the lens cleaning fluid that came with my glasses - about £3 for a small bottle from Vision Express/Spec Savers :)

Works wonders on my Scanner and TFT too :)

tbh i use the same lens cleaning fluid as it gets rid of oily finger prints aswell.
