Looking to quieten my system down some more, and wondered if this was possible?

I'm using a Lian Li PC7-B with an S-Flex SFF21D front and rear, and a Scythe something or other on the Ninja.

The system is set up for Speed Step, so the CPU's undervolted and running at 2ghz most of the time too.

That just what the ninja was designed to do :)

As p4radox said temps will be higher (but still well within operating spec) you might even consider losing one of the case fans.
Having single fan and psu as extract at the back, pulling air over all your kit.

I'm running an E8400 @ 3.6 with a Scythe Ninja but with the Fan, I'm sure it would do just fine at stock.

If you have half decent case cooling then that should be no problem, you can also undervolt your CPU a bit which will also help bring the temps down.

Don't be scared to try, as long as the Ninja is firmly attached you can boot straight into windows and check out the temps. If your a normal end-user then Prime Small FFT test is a good simulation of real world max temps i.e most games and tasks will heat the CPU about the same as Prime Small FFT.

If you want to be 100% sure then run IBT, that will be a worst case scenario of how hot the CPU could get but in the real world an average user won't hammer the CPU as much with gaming or normal tasks!

Thanks for all the replies, I'll have a play later and see how it goes.

Which program's best to check E8400 temps, last time I tried nothing could read it accurately?

Bottled out of running without a fan as every program I've tried to read my CPU temps tells me that one core's at 40°C, and the other's at 41°C, no matter what I'm doing! :(

Bought a Scythe Kama-Bay instead, which also means it cools my new Scythe Quiet Drive in the 5.25" bays too, then took the S-Flex fan off the front of my case and replaced the fan on the Ninja, so I've now got an 800rpm Kama-Bay intake, 800rpm S-Flex on the Ninja, and another 800rpm S-Flex outlet, a little airflow anyway!

Much, much quieter now, not sure if that's down to the Quiet Drive, or replacing the fan on the Ninja, but much happier with it now. :)

I'm looking at passively cooling an AMD X2 4200, will that be a prob? It's not going to be overclocked, just all at stock for a VMWare box
