Move over GTA4, here comes Mafia 2

Whilst everybody has different taste, I find it hard to understand how anyone could dislike Mafia, unless they don't like the entire genre of game.

The story was immense. The game atmpospheric and beautiful. It could be my favorite game ever actually. Simply amazing.

Haven't played it for about 18 months...I'm going to install it when I get home from work!

no streaming trailer? :mad::mad::mad:

Do i look like the type of mug that would spend valuble time and bandwidth downloading? What do you think I got broadband for? Not for pos waiting to watch trailers that's for sure.

Lol. It's not as if you need to sit and watch the download or your lazy computer will stop downloading whilst your back is turned.

Streaming a file or progressively downloading the same file. Hmmm...HUGE bandwidth increase for the progressive download..oh yes...

You do realise that, if those files *did* stream for you, they'd use the EXACT same amount of bandwidth as it'd take to download them? ;)

Oh btw (in case nobody realised) the above was just a major exaggeration, in a sarcastic joking way, of the feelings I have about downloading instead of streaming!!!

i thought it was pretty obvious you were joking.

not much i can add to this thread other then what has been said. mafia is my favorite game of all time for so many reasons. Seeing a man peeing in the alley, another about to commit suicide with a group of people trying to stop him, having to learn to steal cars, having to watch for the cops all the time and really hit the brake if you are speeding or about to run a red light or crash. knowing all the alley ways/shortcuts to get away when being chased, running away from police men on rooftops! brilliant game really hope they don't mess this one up dumbing it down like what happened to oblivion

I was just thinking about mafia1 again, and do you remember you had the option of manual gears AND a clutch key?! Imagine getting that in gta... (yeah right).

That's because GTA is fun :D

I hope they never make GTA so that you get pulled over for speeding or running red lights etc.

Well if I want to use a clutch and stick to the speed limits (sometimes ;)) I'll drive my real car.

I want fun and escapism from video games.

Looks fun. :D I take it they're just your regular cut-scene kinda trailers. Are there any of like in-game footage yet? Is it like 3rd person with a HUD (i.e. GTA style)? :)

Is it just me who didn't like the first Mafia game?

Same. Hated it. Very slow paced, the driving was appalling (break the speed limit by just 1mph and the police would be on you and 9/10 times you would be caught). Missions were boring. Lasted about an hour into the game then decided enough was enough.

I much prefer GTA - a very free city where you can just drive around and enjoy yourself without watching the speed of your car intently or making sure you don't bump into something.

i prefer gta but in mafia you got the 'speed limiter' if you didn't want to worry about speed, capped it at 40 mph everywhere :D to be fair it was hard to get those old bangers too much over 40 anyway lol
