Hi Folks,

I have built a media centre pc that I have hooked up to my lcd tv. The resolution of the tv is 1366x768.

I am using an onboard ati HDMI connection. In CCC the best resolution for me to set the screen to seems to be 1280x 768 (This is the closest to the native resolution).

Is there any way of me getting it to output at 1366 x 768? Also, are there any settings within the ati ccc that I can change to give me a better picture?

have you tried a vga connection to the screen? i think this may be a limitation of the hdmi port on the ati card
you could try something like powerstrip to force the resolution ?

Have you checked the TV settings rather than the computers, when I hooked up my PC to my LCD last year it was the TV that was set wrong for device inputs res. Ended up using a VGA conection as this got me the right res and best picture.

It was only then that the resolution option appeared in my ATi CCC.

I want to use the HDMI for the sound really, also can I play blu ray dvds from the media centre and watch them using a VGA, I was under the impression that there was a limitation in the connections you can use.

Try another HDMI connection socket on the TV.

I have a HTPC connected over HDMI to a Samsung 26" LCD TV which has two HDMI sockets on the back. With one of them it will run at the full 136?x768 resolution but if I plug it into the other socket then it will only work at the lower resolution (1280x768?). When connected to the latter port it doesn't even list the correct resolution as being available.

I have no idea why that the case but that's what it does. Upscaling DVD player works fine at 720p on the HDMI port the HTPC doesn't like.

1360 x 768 over hdmi is fine, you just get 3 pixels each side that are black, and it is important to get the right hdmi port...

I decided to use vga in the end as the picture is clearer!

I tryed my vga cable and it worked straight away, no all I have to do is get the sound working! I have digital audio cable, my motherboard has spdif out and my tv has digital in. When I plug the cable into the tv I can hear the speakers turn on in the tv but I get no sound. I think it's something to do with windows as through HDMI it works fine.

Any ideas?
