Q9550 Worth it?

I bought mine for £225 retail delivered as an upgrade from a e6700. Massive improvement in all areas and the temperature reduction on air going from 65nm to 45nm is around 15-20c per core. Also it overclocks very well, mine is E0 stepping btw.
 
Bah looks like Ill have to shell out for a GTX260 then :p. I might hold off until GTA4 is worth playing before upgrading...

Personally I'd go for the CPU. It's more than playable with a 8800GTS 512MB. A friend of mine on this forum, Benjo, has a Q6600 @ 3.6GHz with a 8800GTS 512 gets 50fps with everything at medium. My E8400 @ 3.5GHz with a 4850 gets 36fps average with everything at medium.

Considering the 4850 is slightly better the CPU is bringing that game to a much more playable level.

Also the 8800GTS 512MB plays just about everything else out on the market.
 
dunno about it being worth it in terms of the PW but I've seen the past two days go up 6 quid yesterday and another 5 quid today!!! Ridiculous :eek:
