had this game since release but never got further than the first disc originally, started playing it again awhile back and 90 hours later ive completed everything plus the DLC, just dropping in to say this game is truley amazing and has a great ending.

Feel almost bad that it can be snapped up so cheap now too as the production value is so high,

thoughts?

Had this game since release but got stuck on the second disc. Hopefully I can finish this over the christmas hols. I think this game has one of best looking intros in this current console gen. The first battle just shows how good the Unreal 3 engine can be.

I dont know why but I finished disk 3, had to go out and never felt any compulsion to put disk 4 in after..

I put in about 50 hours and got close to the end but I think I was too low level as I kept dying. Having to grind kind of put me off so I moved on. Might go back to it.. some day..

My future with JRPG's lies in the hands of this game. Thus far my only attempts at JRPG's ahve been the Blue Dragon demo, which simply made me want to throw up on my screen. Everything about it irritated me in 2 minutes flat.

I recently tried The Last Remnant, and was put off by the loading screens every 30 seconds, the music, and a number of other things. I think I could have put up with the awful framerates had here been something I liked about it.

I am sure there is somethign I tried between blue dragon and last remnant, but it escapes me.

I am still unsure how I am going to respond to the kind of turn based combat in these games. I am trying to have an open mind, but have a funny feeling I will simply land up despising JRPG's.

Theres one rule with Lost Odyssey for those wondeing about buying it:

Do you like FF7 and FF8?

= If yes buy, buy, buy!
= If no cry, cry, cry!

Also its worth exploring a lot once you get to the end game situation. There are tons of secret bosses and new locations around the map that add hours of extra gaming content that you could simply miss going straight to the end boss. Also it will give you a fighting chance to see the end credits!

I think I am half way through disc 2 and love it...some of the dream sequences stories are so well written/produced ...great game!

I think the days of JRPGs doing turn based games are coming to an end. Since the Final Fantasy series have had turn based combat system from day one and even SquareEnix admits that they no longer want to make anymore Final Fantasy turn based games are is not a market for them anymore.

Then it truly is a sad time for gaming:(

This game isnt that good its just average. The story line is quite boring until around disc 2/3, it looks good and the music isnt to bad.

I am near the end and i have had it since release, i just cant be arsed to do all the secret stuff. Will complete it over xmas hopefully.

Oh and the characters are ****, no emotion in them!

I'm only on the second disc as I stopped after starting a new job last year. But I remember how impressed I was with the story and how mature it seemed, which is something very rare in modern JRPG games. They normally cater for the teenage, flashy and shallow market.

Lost Oddysey feels more Final Fantasy than the actual Final Fantasy games have since FF8.

The main character, forgot his name, was really interesting. Although he was the cliche silent, stoical and mysterious type, his history was simply amazing and the emotion in the game was more developed and better portrayed than most movies are.

The only problems I remember having with the game is the level system and how it stops you from getting too much experience. Basically every new area you arrive in you are only really allowed to get so much experience before it becomes too tedious to bother with.

I'm a lover of JRPGs and always have been since I first got into videogames. One of the things I loved to do was get as strong as possible and develop my character to a point where I didn't need to struggle through any dungeons so it would allow me to enjoy the game. It'd make me feel like I had achieved something and actually got stronger.

But thats the problem I had with the game, its stops it from happening. The feeling of having developed your character to a decent level. It eventually became too much of a hassle and because of the business of the new job, I had to stop. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it soon though as I have more time.

I love Lost Odyssey for the battle system which it has. I like the fact the more powerful you get the less battles you get into. I feel its put a tatical element into the game and makes you think about how to take out a Boss. Not if you cant get past a Boss you stay in one area for hours on end, get to level whatever and take out the Boss in one move. My friend dislike this game because of that reason, he was too used to on Final Fantasy games powering up and taking out enermies in a few moves and completing the game with really no effort once your level 100.

ahhh what a fantastic game! but as a chap said earlier, i got to a similar point where there are monsters in the sea which surround you, I just kept getting demolished, and couldnt find a way back to land so left it there! (i think disc 3 or 4?)

I know they are supposed to be written by a really well-repected Japanese author and add an extra dimension of humanity and emotion to the game, but I found the 'memories' to be soooooooooo boring... I struggled through reading the first ten or so, but they rapidly became an exercise in pressing the 'skip to the end' button as fast as possible. :)

I think thats more to do with the amount of text rather than the actual stories themselves?

Best use of text in a video game since Planescape Torment in my opinion! The actual stories in LO were the best I've ever seen in a video game, just a shame you can only read about them rather than play through them.
