Anybody watching this, some shocking footage, especially the football player that killed those 2 boys on the M6 being told their was a fatality in the crash, why risk every for being so much over the limit. Then the guy with his young kid and niece in the car while being twice the legal limit on the same strech of M6 the footballer crashed.

I caught a bit of it whilst eating my dinner,

Quite suprised at how the alcohol blood levels differed between the people in the pub.

Thought it was pretty bad to be honest.

Showed that you could potentially drink 5 pints or 8 shots and still be well under the limit despite your driving being terrible, legally your OK, that bloke is still going to drink the same amount as he always did and drive home isnt he!

Yeah and the tests they did were pretty pointless as well. I mean the simulator was a joke, they should have shown them having a go before drinking (and i bet they still would have crashed).

The only thing that show has taught me is that I can probably drink a few pints and still be under the limit. I won't do it but that was my view before watching it anyway.

I wont drive after drinking any alcohol (well, maybe a single swig of an average beer, there's more alcohol than that in my eczema pills). I'd probably get away with it but as you say it's not worth the risk. Even if I feel fine I might not be and if I did end up injuring someone I'd likely spend a lot of time afterwards wondering if it would have been any different if I hadn't had that drink.

I would like to see drink driving testing move more to an American-style impairment test though. I've seen people get completely plastered off a single pint and I've seen people drink 5 or 10 pints with no effect on their ability to function. Of those two examples I know which I'd rather get into a car with!

I never drive after having a drink, the presenter was way under the legal limit and his driving was still impared. I think the limit should be set to "zero" and then there would be absolutely no confusion over what or how much you can drink and still drive legally. As was shown even if your under the limit your driving is till affected.

his driving was just crap though. After 1 or 2 shots he was all over the place. Now sorry, but he is a celeb out in the public eye, i seriously doubt that he cannot handle his drink, hell, he was having half a pint of coke to go with the vodka!!

Unless accurate metered testers, and advice is available to the public then a 0 tolerance is just daft!!

Lower, by all means, but the same stands, we need accurate advice and cheap/accurate/widely available equipment for self testing!

Is this still presented by Alastair Stewart? I always find it quite ironic when he preaches about the dangers of drink driving.

How did the woman who drank 8 Malibu and cokes only have 4mg alcohol in her blood?!

There was another documentary like this a month or so ago that was trying to show how you could still be over the limit the next morning. I think everyone on that was unfit to drive but came in under the limit. They're not really getting the point across very well.

How many times do they have to say "Luke Macormick"?

Edit: and those people who think they can drink and drive simply enrage me....

Works in IE8 for me, the CSS is fubar, but the video works.

The site works fine for me in opera (CSS wise), but I can't watch the video.

Absolute crock - here's a few simple rules to follow.

Had a drink = don't drive
Not had a drink = drive
Had more than a few drinks the night before = don't drive.

No need to go anywhere near an alcohol tester.

The question is, when can you then drive? I had quite a heavy night and woke up about 11am. I got in about midnight and thought I should be fine (1 unit per hour). I didn't feel ok to drive so I slept another few hours. I felt better, but for I know I could have been over the limit at 2pm or under the limit at 11am. Maybe a tester would be a useful piece of kit.

Exactly.

Its possible that someone might still be over the limit 24 hours later.

There are no hard and fast rules, and this means that we need the abilty to test!!

Absolute crock

Nice of you to let us know what your post contains before reading it! Must be dull in your black and white world where grey areas dont exist.

As honorable as your intentions are, your being daft :)

For example, i had a pint of shandy today at lunch. With a zero tolerance policy i would be unable to drive home, and possibly even drive into work in the morning.
