Traffic police encounter

every experience ive had ive been treat like a criminal its hideous i know there are some nice ones as ive met them outside of office but i always seem to pick up the rude boys lol :D

I have a friend (well, more of an acquaintance) who is a traffic cop and he is an absolute **** in real life ;)

Can't imagine what he'd be like when he straps on his hi-vis jacket and becomes supercop.

I was pulled a few weeks back for having blown tail light.
They followed me off a round about into a Morrisons, they just pulled right up behind me as i parked up. They gave me a lecture on the taillight, which I was oblivous about at the time, a producer and a ticket I had to get stamped at an MOT station.

They also wanted to check my breath to make sure, I probably looked abit nervous, but I was just bloody cold, all I was sporting were some shorts and a t-shirt. They had just been issued new breathalyzers and the attachment they had didn't fit, so they let me on my way after abit of a giggle.

I seem to remember it was a very old law prohibiting the sale of refreshments or something to police officers, which one shop took seriously a year or two ago.

As a copper my self it's an offence to knowingly serve alcohol or a refreshment to an officer on duty and likewise its an offence for an officer to buy alcohol while on duty (unless permission is given from high up for whatever reason)

It's nice to hear a bit of positive feedback even if they are traffic :p

99% of the folk that I work with (me included) are decent folk and will be friendly and respectful with you unless you start getting mouthy and trying to give smart answers. As a rule if your nice to us we will be nice to you but as with any job there will always be a few grumpy folk that are unnecessarily harsh or rude.

Super fail.

You're supposed to take the customer to the product.

I bet you pointed aswell didn't you! ;)

No. The lady working with me escorted him to the flapjacks, I adjusted the story for comedy, Thanks for taking it seriously & ruining it though a :D

Most of my experiences with the police have been good.

Had a bad experience with a policeman at Glasgow airport once though. Ruined us up and put a real dampener on my parents coming back from their hols :(

I had a right laugh with the local coppers when I got pulled in my village going 36 in a 30. Also had a laugh with one of the specials later on. I've found that the police I've had to speak to have been alright, as long as you treat them alright they are generally fine with you.

Community Officer over your way is PC Gary Fag, Tough name for a kid & a copper I s'pose but he's been round my house & he is proper sound. He was the copper that suggested I get involved with them & proposed the DIP position etc, Top Bloke who even put me in touch with a few contacts in similar situations as me from All over the country. Not one ounce of prejudice against me or my past

I thought it was illegal to have an open alcohol container in a road vehicle?

Not at all.
You can in fact drink alcohol while you are driving if you so desire - although this could potentialy come under due care and attention, but no more so than smoking a cigarette or eating an apple etc.

Of course if you were stopped they would immediately give you a breath test, however if you pass that there is nothing they can do about the fact you were drinking alcohol while driving.

You can bet your backside that they would do you for driving without due care and attention as you say though.

I thought even if you take say one slurp of alcohol, and get breathalysed (shortly thereafter), it would read positive, just due to the fumes... I mean, there are reports of people testing positive for using alcoholic mouthwash...

Yes but it's only an indicator as far as I know, if you test positive at the roadside you are then taken to the station where a proper test is conducted.

I have been stopped twice i think already in UK for a random check, both times they did ask me few questions and thats about it, no problems what so ever.

say that did happen. Would they just leave your car at the side of the road? And when the test in the station returned -ve would the police drive you back to collect your car or what?
