I got around 18,700 with a single 4870 and dual core under Server 08, was hoping XP would work some magic and get me some more 3dmarks....but XP scored exactly the same (a bit worse actually, less sm2/sm3 pts more cpu pts)!!!


So I got annoyed and threw my old 4850 in and got the following, not bad for dual core ehh??

Looks good:) pretty impressive 24/7 clocks, particularly on the e8600. Quite fancy trying one myself.
 
thanks. e8500 actually. I don't recommend the e8600 as it doesn't clock any better unless you really need the higher multi
 
ahh. E8500 my eyesights getting worse:D Been toying with the idea of changing to a 45nm dual, as ive taken this current quad as far as itll go on air, and i dont really use it to its full potential much now, that and the idea of having a new chip to mess around with could be the deciding factors.:)
 
875mhz you mean....I'm watercooled, I think good cooling helps a lot. I can bench at 900mhz actually...
 
Mighty impressive clocks there gurusan.

Did you go with 4 x 1GB RAM in preference to 2 x 2GB, or does it really not make that much difference?

I bought the OCZ ram in the MM for a good price awhile back and have never had a reason to upgrade to 2x2gb.

Also I don't know of any 2x2gb ram that clocks as well as these sticks (except for the super expensive G.Skill and OCZ thingies) . I don't even need 2.2V for 1200mhz
 
I did bench vantage.....dual is absolute poo at it :( ati seems crap as well..a bit disappointed, but whatever....

In the vantage thread here we just used the GPU score as PhysX unrealistically boosted the nvidia scores,

15000+ is a nice score :) i got 14133 .
