I do drive nice cars every day, and yes, it makes me as happy as i could hope from an inanimate object.

Pretty much i would say although some people who drive certain cars seem to have too much of an increase in ego enough to think they own the road.

I'd have to qualify that by saying driving a nice car would probably make most people 'happier' for the period of time they are driving it at least and assumes that most people would find driving a nice car an enjoyable experience.

Whether it would make anyone 'happy' in general would depend entirely on what else was going on in their life

Nice is really a very subjective description though, I suspect my definition of nice greatly differs from some other peoples. I've really enjoyed myself driving what many people would regard as a shed, and hated driving what the same people would probably consider a "nice" car.

Not for me - I'd be thinking about all the income I could be putting else where. Using petrol = burning money, I'd rather keep my mpg high and use the money on my house.

Having a nice detached house makes me happier than having a car ever would.

happier than driving a rubish car for the same period of time certainly, happy in general probably not unless it was on a track or the alternative to driving the car was something less enjoyable.
