Grand Theft Auto 4

Try rolling back anyway, you have nothing to lose.

Unless of course you have disabled system restore :p

I disabled that, don't matter anyway not gonna use it.

I got it working, turned out the modded handling.dat file is what caused it to not work although I applied the patch to allow modded files but still did not work

OK, so I've been watching this thread for a while initially for my own sick amusement at how badly this game ran, then in interest at how everyone was overcoming the BS to play it.

Now I think I've overdone it and am kind of tempted to get this game.

I already had it and completed it on 360 though.

In short; is there, having already having completed this game on another platform, any point buying it on pc? Are there new features of graphics which make it worth a second look?

I ask because it's down to $26 on steam.

What is my spec likely to run at?

C2D e6300 @ 3ghz
3gb ram
ati hd 4850

?

I couldn't care less if the gfx are set to lowest and res is low, i just been playing vice city and loving it tbh. Not even doing the missions, just spending hours going on the rampage :p

£26 actually, all the steam prices are in GBP now with VAT already added.

I would say it's worth it, if it doesnt run super smooth now, i will in a cuple of years when the new intel chips are standard.

Graphics are far far far better then the console ****.

Are they? And the PC version seems to have a bug with draw distance whereby drivers are not shown inside vehicles at a relatively short distance, regardless of what you set the distance sliders to. So sniping drivers or helicopter pilots is out unless they are nearby.

I don't have that...

Argh, cant do 'babysitter' ! I have to stop Kim from getting killed on the boat, I cant steer, angle and shoot accurately all at the same time!

Any tips??

I can't seem to get GTA 4 to install at all. I have it on steam and it keeps saying "updating" and just sits there.

I deleted everything and tried to re-download it and same thing happens, but now steam says "100% ready" when it's not :/.

Steam is really starting to annoy me lately, been acting weird.

I've did all the usual things, deleting the blob files etc...

Anyone had a similar problem?

i coldn't remember this mission at first but i remember it now, it was pretty tricky, if it helps you don't have the aim for the guys in the boats just shoot the boats till they blow :)

http://www.mahalo.com/Grand_Theft_Auto_4_Walkthrough heres a complete walkthrough they put EVERYTHING + vidz onto same page, probly the most technically demanding webpage ever made, it needs over 500 mb of ram to function

one tip: open this page in firefox, IE7 seem a little unstable running this page :p

Ok...

So I've been playing this game for a few days now and I think.. well.. that I might be a wee bit hopeless at it.. I killed a certain man who's second name begins with an F

Now his comrad has burn't down certain places belonging to Roman ;)

Is this mean't to be happening? :p

The above is in short detail as I don't want to spoil the game for others.

Should run it fine, mine does (spec in sig, CPU's also @ 3ghz.), ive got it at 1280x1024, medium textures, highest renderer, view distance 20, detail distance 100 (max), vehicle density 30, shadows 1, and it looks great as well. :)
