just wondered what the general consensus is on this game?

been planning on getting into WoW or this, and because i used to play Warhammer when i was little, and ive played all the previous games on the PC then im swinging towards this rather than WoW.

heard mixed reviews about it, so im not entirely sure...

I played WAR for about a month and it honestly is a great game but GOA will be the downfall of it just like SOE is the downfall of Star Wars Galaxies, the non existent customer service and moronic gamemasters are the downside.
The upside though is the graphics are sweet, gameplay is quite fun, if you love PvP then thats the game for you, the PvE sucks monkeys nuts to a point but its not terrible but the awesome thing is that through PvP you can get XP and level up which i thought was quite cool and the end game armour looks spankaliscious :p

I'd say no, and I'd point you towards World of Warcraft.

Warhammer has poor graphics in my opinion, Yes i know Warcraft is a bit dated, but Warhammer doesn't look all that.

The Customer services are non existent and the Game masters are just as effective, where as Warcraft have brilliant customer services and brilliant game masters.

More people play Warcraft, if you find the right server you'll meet some nice people who you enjoy spending time with and socializing.

Warhammer promises top notch PvP but i thought it wasn't as good as Warcraft. I thought the class's lacked, and just in all it felt rushed and didn't live up to the hype.

it all depends what you like doing the most, if pve is your thing then wow offers much more in terms of dungeon/raids/and shiny purple helmets ;)

if your looking for an rvr (realm vs realm) experience then warhammer offers a lot more. With recent player transfers happening there are now several english servers with very good populations throughout the tiers, and if you shop around the game can be had for £9.99 (30 days play time included).

I dont think either games are too expensive now to try out, just really depends what you are looking for.

Warhammer made me quit WoW.

Despite WoW being the better game (although they do offer different angles of the same genre), I stopped playing WAR to go back to WoW, then realised how restrictive WoW is....its PvE quests or nothing till 80. Got really bored, I've now quit WoW all together after 4 long years....(as an extra dig, Blizzard should be ashamed of how they ruined WoW...but thats just me speaking as an old man)

So I'm back in WAR. Its a bit rough, is unbalanced and needs more adding, but the whole variation and options available make it more fun to level.

TBH, I suggest you try both....

I found the community in WAR to be far more helpful, friendlier and knowledgable than WoW. Community is what makes an MMO imo.

And this was mentioned already, but WAR does pvp better, WoW does pve better, so that would play an important part, depending on your preference.

played war thro beta and a moth into release. Very dissapointed, very bad support with flawed game play dissions on classes and other aspects which made Destruction servearly outway order. Which sure would be alright but the whole idea of war is to work as a team and do thinsg like public quests. The world of warhammer on order is a barren waste land and impossible to hold any of the keeps meaning its basicaly a game for destruction to haev fun mullering the few order people bothered in trying to take keeps.

Good game, i quit after 2 months as i can't afford MMO's for a while but i'll hopefully go back to it soon as i really enjoyed it.

The only thing that went wrong for me was people in the Guild stopped coming online and most reverted back to Warcraft. Loads of events come up and it's a blast to go raiding forts.

Recommended!

I'd say give it a go and see what you think, the recent patches mixed things up a lot and the UI does seem more fluid and responsive.
If you don't like it, try WoW.

With MMO's it really is a case of trail and error until you find something that suits you and/or you like.

You must be kidding? If you try a Bright Wizard on Order nothing much gets close for damage. The servers are balanced to a degree with the amount fo Order and Destruction allowed on at any one time. However it's up to the people to organise stuff.

One thing I really liked was the Public Quests they were excellent. You can run into an area and join in by killing a few things which then took the PQ on to the next level. The only down side was that the roll for the loot wasn't really based up on anything.

The graphics are superb and are much better than WoW's (which you would expect from something new compared to something several years old) again with my following comment I'd say LoTRO's had the best graphics. I'd also say the community was better. If someone asks anything in WoW it's 'google it nub' or words to that effect at best where as WAR's is more mature and helpful. I still think LoTRO's community is the best as they would give detailed help.

My overall opinion would be to try them all. It really depends what you want.

I have some friend keys on 10 day WOW and WAR so if you want any then give me an e-mail (in trust).

I play WAR because it fits with my lifestyle, if you have endless hours for raids then go for WOW if you are like m play from 8pm-12 most nights then WAR could be the game for you.

exactly the same with me. Whilst war is far from perfect, going back to wow felt like returning to playschool (and i mean that in both game and community aspects). Try and ignore the talk of the narrow minded wow fanboys and give them both a try. If you cant then id say go with wow if you like pve and have lots of time on your hands or war if you prefer pvp and more time restricted.

:eek::confused: what alternate dimension do you live in?

The average wait time on an account enquiry is now about 3 weeks to a month and the GM's have all been as usefull as a chocolate fire guard in my experiance. They give you copy and paste answers and dont even read your petition and the answer you get is usually totally irrelevant.

Besides on my server "doomhammer" on a normal week day there is no chance to see a GM while playing, takes at least 5 hours to get a response.

WoW is a great and very polished game but the customer support sucks royally, especially considering the huge amount of money they have. Then again most of the customer service stuff is based in france apparently, so that may explain it :p

well WAR was my first MMO and i just didn't enjoy it. I felt compelled to play only to keep up with my guild not because i enjoyed it. Fighting for keeps that you loose the moment the timer runs out is not fun. I did have some great times defending them as we had a group of 3 guilds all working together. But im not paying for the monthly chance to do that.

I didn't expect the game to be perfectly balanced or anything like taht i know it take at least a year. But i didn't wana walk round in a barron wasteland either.

On the plus side i think i was one of the richest on my server at the time with near 300 gold to my name within 2 weeks lol.

My experience with the WoW customer service team is completely different to yours, they are top notch.

Yes, you get an automated response from GM's if you are offline and they are forced to send it by mail, but when actually talking to one I've never had an automated answer.

If you cant then id say go with wow if you like pve and have lots of time on your hands or war if you prefer pvp and more time restricted.

Don't get why people say WoW = PvE, War = PvP, I played War and the PvP is ****, clunky and boring in comparison to WoW, dreadful.

No Arena on War either last time I checked.
