REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - December 18, 2008. Just in time for the holidays, Valve announced that, Spore™, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning™, Mass Effect®, Need for Speed™ Undercover and EA SPORTS FIFA Manager 2009 are available now to gamers in North America via Steam, a leading platform for PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world.

In the coming weeks, Mirror's Edge™ , Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3, and Dead Space™ will also be added to the catalog of EA's titles available via Steam.

"EA is one of the industry's largest publishers," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "The EA titles coming to Steam this holiday include some this year's top PC titles."

"We are pleased to extend our holiday titles to gamers worldwide via Steam -- a revolutionary technology that is one of the game industry's most successful digital distribution services," said John Pleasants, President, Global Publishing & Chief Operating Officer.

Wow, this caught me by surprise, I never thought that this would happen this side of ........ *ponders* the apocalypse!

Guess they realized their dl system is ****, and all their expensive customized DRM still fails before launch.

Ive lost the password to my steam account (account was hijacked, logged in, had deleted email and now cant get it back as I cant remember what i changed my secret word to (would be good of them to give you a hint). Im not rebuying what ive got on steam and as they dont seem interestered, they have lost a customer.

Not really their fault now is it?

EA should just declare failure and give all of its moneys (but none of its principles) to steam :p

EA have played a major part in the release of some of the best games this year, Dead Space, Crysis: Warhead, Rock Band, Fifa 2009 (rehash yes, but a good rehash), Burnout Paradise and many others over the previous years. If they dropped out of game development and/or publishing it would be a huge blow to the computer games industry.

That said, their digital distribution system was an utter joke so their adoption of Steam is a great bit of news.

Did you even contact them?

^^ This, I contacted them with the Card Details of one of my purchases and the last password and email I used, told them when about it was hijacked and got it back in 2 days, didn't even remember my secret question.

This is a surprise, hopefully EA will realize that steam is far better than the **** they have and that putting excessive DRM is rubbish... Sure they make a lot of rubbish games these days but some are still acceptable. I mean, Mirrors edge looks okay and some others too. But I really hope they add classics, like a battlefield pack: BF1942, Road to Rome, secret weapons of ww2, BF: Vietnam and BF2 + exp's.

OR other EA classics: Sim city 1-4, theme park, etc...

I once either had my password hacked or simply forgot it (lol) A email to steam support saying my account details as well as a cd key for a game i had registered on there and within 24 hours they changed the password and emailed me a new one :)
