Could be mate, no idea myself :D. Could be the resolution or something they were running it, maybe it was something ridiculously high to cause the stuttering. Dunno though ;)

I find this realy hard to grasp.. I played last night, the game saved, I turned off my pc as normal.

Then I wake up switch pc on, steam updates the game and it no longer works?

That is seriously unbelievable. I've NEVER had a game that managed to corrupt its save files....... and I realy CBA to start a fresh :(
 
Yeah doesn't for me either, dont know what was going on on the bridge near the end there, it was stuttering like **** when he hit a bit of traffic and crashed.
 
It's a great game and I look forward to getting better setups in the future that will allow me to up the settings!

I have a pretty average system and the game has been running flawlessly since I bought it and have had no crashes what-so-ever :)

I remember this thread recently where someone had the same error as you, telling him to check the hard drive etc. Various people have supposedly corrupt save games - even if it occurred under different circumstances to you. There are some fixes suggested in the thread which may or may not work.

I've tried pressing up (W) at the same time, and yet again, I fall off and mission failed.

Has ANYONE managed this on the PC using kb/mouse combo?

Thanks pal, I've tried those.

Must be that the save file has corrupted, I'm actualy 50/50 right now as to whether I'm going to keep playing the game. Starting over again feels pointless.

It seems like a complete shower of ***** IMO. Urghhhhh
 
How do I get this game to run at 1920*1200? It only goes up to 1680*1050 in the graphics options. It might be because I swapped my 20" monitor for a 24" yesterday, and the game hasn't noticed even though I have changed my desktop res accordingly. Any ideas?:confused::confused::confused:

I think it depends on the amount of RAM your graphics card has. You might be able to use the -norestrictions switch to override it. I have a 512MB card and need most of that amount to run at 1280x1024 with low distance settings.
 
Ok.. I've started a new game :D

Any ideas on the process in which you should install things? I deleted the Xbox folder from my documents area which mean't I had to login again as it didn't know my profile.

It asked for my cd key this time round, It didn't when I first installed the game, maybe this is why It corrupted? :confused:

This time save your game in more than one slot.... I do this as a matter of course in all PC games.
 
Installed the new Nvidia drivers for notebooks, GTA4 running much smoother than before, will post the new benchmarks for it later :D
 
Well mines gone **** up, after about a minute of starting it just starts to grind to a halt, frame-rate just plummets to what seems to be about 5fps or less and its just stuttering like buggery. :(

i have tryed to run at 1920 x1080 and have 512 mb of Vram but i can only set texture on low at my res and have to drop to 1680 by 1050 to use medium textures, but you have a very similar res and have medium textures im i doing something wrong?

I'm on HIGH now for textures, you should be able to use the -norestricion and -nomemrestrict bits on the end of the game shortcut to allow the higher modes though!
