Hi folks,

I'm going to upgrade my graphics card in January and i'm going to utilise my mobo's SLI capability, as the title says what is the best card i can get for around £60?

I've seen 3 options:
1) 384mb 8800GS for £60
2) 1gb 9500GT for £65
3) 384mb 9600GSO for £66

Or any others?

Cheers and Merry Christmas :)

I just hopped 2 years into the future in my Tardis: For £60 i'd go with the 4870X2 lmfao :D

On a serious note though i think i'd go with number 2 but don't take my word for it, wait for others to confirm

I need 2 though for SLI, i was under the impression SLI only works if both cards are identical?

well seeing as you need new psu probably i wouldnt bother.

for that money get a ati 4850 or if dont mind second hand get 2 x 8800gt but sli with tha option and your psu would be hmmmm

Hi SidUK, it's not really worth buying two low end graphics cards to run in a SLI configuration since the performance won't be brilliant and you would be far better of buying a single, reasonably high end graphics card.

Since you have £120 to spend, have a look at the ATI Radeon 4850 512MB which is a cracking card at a great price. :)

Single cards for the same price as two lesser cards tend to perform a lot better in games, and also draw a lot less power saving electricity. Unless you're spending 300+ I wouldn't bother with SLI as there are better value for money options.

yeah if your going to spend 110-140 I'd take a long hard look at the 4850 or 9800GTX+ - altough if you can find a couple of 8800GT second hand for around £60 they would be far faster in SLI than one of those 2 cards.

I really wouldn't bother with any of those cards you've listed - they have absolutely no long term life.

Oh I dunno SLI on a budget has its place sometimes - but generally with the lower end cards buying 1 card at the price of the 2 cards works out much faster.

I setup an 8500GT SLI setup for a laugh was good fun to play with and got 100% scaling in most cases :D granted the combined price could have got an 8800GT which is 2.5x faster.

as the others have said get 1 card

ether a 4850 or a 9800gtx +

The latter ofc you could be slied if you upgraded everything :P

SLI / CROSSFIRE is more marketing than performance avoid them!

512mb 9600gt can be had for about that price

would be a better bet than the cards mentioned if you really want sli at that price

This^^

Two 9600GTs are actually surprisingly good in SLi, very good scaling and great performance for the price.
