Rock Band I guess, because I can't see any other 'original' games I've bought this year on my shelf.

2008 was looking like a bumper year for games, but it all kind of went off with a fizzle.

Valkyrie Chronicles.

Wonderful game engine with an artistic Studio Ghibli style, great story, great mixture of JRPG & strategy, best SEGA game to come out this year.

But Dead Space gets an honorable mention for kinda coming out of nowhere, and actually being a good game.

Some of the best games this year have got errors/bugs need patches. GOW2, Fable 2, LBP, GTAIV(to some extent) etc. Doesn't stop them being great games in their own right. Imagine how much greater they would be if "fixed"
