What do you guys think happned? Fuses are all ok in the plug checked and changed them etc etc.

Pc still dead.... monitor is working router is working, etc but pc is now effecitvely a paper weight and i am very angry because it is a 1500 pound system...

So whats happned? im praying its only the power supply that blew up or something....

Ideas guys? please help?

Thanks.

Does your motherboard have any led's to show power to the board?
Hopefully if your psu has blown and it's a good make your system should be fine.

You dont want to be messing around with the internals of a psu, it will void your waranty and will be very dangerous just rma it.

haha but :( i want my pc but ** probably right... i dont wanna fiddle really but it may be out of warranty? its over a year old now since i got it.... so id assume i have to buy a new one or fiddle.

It comes with a 5 year warranty.

Could you possibly borrow a psu from someone, this would help to check if your other components are ok, and confirm that the psu is the faulty component. im sure that if it is the psu it should still be in warranty.

Seriously, don't mess around inside the PSU if you don't know what you're doing. Voiding the warranty could be the least of your problems - the components inside a PSU can store enough energy to give you a nasty shock and maybe kill you, even if it's unplugged.

Unfortunately not mate im all out of luck and i have no spares at all.... grrrr my only hope is to rma it and assume its psu and rest is ok. I hope anyway lol.

Checking the fuse should present very little danger to you, assuming you dont start wildly prodding around. Fuses vary. If you are lucky enough the fuse will be an easily serviceable item i.e It can be removed and replaced without soldering. If its soldered to the board then you might want to pass it on to someone else to repair.
Sadly I cant comment on placement, as it will vary from PSU to PSU. If you are concerned about doing any of this yourself, then an RMA would indeed be your best bet.

The link below should give you a bit more info -

Thats mate will consider it. Im just way moire concerned with my HD's and my ati 4870 lol... any way to give myself peace of mind somehow test them without a psu?

Well obviously check system with a new PSU goes without saying, but assuming the worst case scenario that all components died, surely you can make a claim on the house insurance for that sort of thing?

I'm guessing you have tested the wall socket itself?
A long shot I know, but just stick something else in there and check its all OK.
Stranger things have happened! :)
