Old question...Xbox vertical or horizontal?

I've used my elite vertical for a year now, is it a big problem?

I found it a problem with putting discs in to it. First time I got GTA IV it slipped out and put a slight scratch on my disc!

I have it horizontal now.

Keep it horizontal to prevent it from the chance of falling. However if standing up is the only option then that's fine too.

tbh I think you are kidding yourself if you think that laying it horizontal is going to somehow prevent it from failing.

Either is fine so long as the box does not transition between the two whilst the disc is spinning.

Having it vertical allegedly blocks one of the main air intake vents, so that's something to consider.

Someone tested the 360 with thermal probes (I want to say it was tom's hardware) and there was no difference in temperature between the orientations. I'd have if horizontal though because of the poor disc drives.

Had mine vertical when I got it, it then proceeded to ruin the first disc I put in it. Horizontal now and had no problems since.
