Hi there,

What good racing game would you recommend for multiplayer - LAN play? I've had a look at Grid and it looks good and I know quite a few people like it. Does this have LAN option?

Thanks

mebbe i'm just getting too old, but although I like Trackmania (nations), I found it very frustrating with all the new tracks and the complexity of them... I much preferred it earlier on when the servers were using mainly the simpler tracks.
I guess as you can choose the tracks on LAN, then Trackmania would be great :)

As no-one's mentioned it yet, GPL , ok, so _now_ i'm old ;)

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast.

Awesome game if players can keep up with each other and play a competing game of the best drifts, or drift bashing in the corners. Plus, its OutRun! Good old fashioned arcade gameplay, and you have both the OutRun 2 and OutRun 2 SP games and their respective courses.

I'd forgotten about this.

A much underrated game IMHO.

Loved it.

Are there still many online?

Theyre releasing it on the 360 Arcade... I almost certain it will be this version.

Online is still thriving on the Xbox version, maybe PS2 as well, but for the PC, its practically dead unless I race with some friends. Plus there seems to be account connection issues for the PC version too which is a pain, probably firewall issues.

Yeah the new OutRun Online for the 360 Arcade seems to be a mixture of different courses from the OutRun 2 games plus new ones, and the graphics is the same, just in HD resolution.

I would strongly recommend Test Drive Unlimited. Its the world’s first M.O.O.R. (Massively Open Online Racing). It was realeased in march 2007, but I still think its a very good game.

rFactor (With mods for cars you want)
Live for Speed - for it's realism and ease of play with friends. (Not to be confused with need for speed)
Grid - For mindless racing :)

Grid if you want arcadey-handling.

Live For Speed if you want realistic handling (imo the best, but opinion is divided) and aren't bothered about having real cars, although there are a couple. LFS also has easily the best public pickup-and-join online racing community.

rFactor if you want realistic handling (get the realfeel plugin too if you have a wheel) and do want real cars and tracks.
