I managed to fit a Sapphire 4870 1GB inside my Antec Fusion case, one of the new cards with the heatpipe cooler design. Length wise, the card fits, the lower 6pin power supply plug does not go in due to the hard drive section wall, you'll have to cut out a small segment of the case wall here for clearance. Height wise, the heat pipes on the card just about fit inside the case, you will be able to fit the lid on OK.
Only other thing to take into account is the width of the card cooler and how many SATA ports it may block on your motherboard once fitted inside the case. Good luck!

Thanks Matty_Boy, that gives me hope and something I could try !!

Cheers :)

Also, since there is precious little room to route power cables from the PSU around the 4870 itself, try routing as many cables as you can underneath the optical drive bay and through the hole under there into the space next to the hard drive enclosure, then up + over the wall into the main motherboard space. Gives the 4870 a bit more breathing space in the case. You will need extension cables for the 24 pin + 4/8 pin power cables for this.:D

Well I ended up getting the Asus Dark Knight 4870 card in the end, just had to cut a small section of the spacers in the case to make it fit, quite snug infact :D

I just ran 3D Mark 06 and only got approx 11.5k, my old 3870 was getting close to that surely that cannot be right ?

Whats your full spec? does seem a little low but these cards stretch there legs in games and ati unlike last round are not bothered about 06. Try running vantage.

I have an Intel quad Q6600 running stock and 8gig of ram, running vista 64bit

Just ran it again and got 12,152 which is a bit better?

Yea not to bad with the quad running at stock i would oc that quad to 3ghz to get the best out of your 4870 and it would make your 06 score much better also. As i say anyway the difference you will notice will be in games not benchmarks.

Thanks, I may well try overclocking the CPU, I have just downloaded 3dmark vantage so will give that a whirl :)

Got my Q6600 overclocked to 2.8Ghz and got a much healthier score with 3dmark06 approx 15k and with 3dmark vantage clocked in at 8800 :)
