I'm a bit skint so dont have a lot of disposable money but need a little more grunt in my pc. Its struggling a little with the MMO's i play and its defo lacking processer power (ie running at 90-100% and getting a little stutter/lag), I can afford a 5200 but was curious as to whether you guys think it would be worth it?

Thanks

Lumey

A little, refuses to go past 225fsb though although that could be down to the mobo (ip43)

The 5200 has more cache will i know will help with the mmo stuff but i dont wnat to spend money for no reason

I know ppl bang on about reading the Clocking thread and i know its hard to understand but once you get your head around the basics you look back at that thread and it all seems simple. A good look around your bios without changing stuff and looking up what diff parts do will give you a nice understanding.

I'd get that E2180 past 3Ghz, should be pretty good :-) Just go and sit for it, read stuff on the internet and try it in little steps!

Deffo worth it! :)

That's based on the assumption you can safely remove your old 65nm E2180 and sell it for at least 50% of the value of the new chip.

45nm skinny 2MB Wolfdale here, great chip, undervolted and running stock 2500MHz for a low powered desktop machine or give it some juice and feel the 3500MHz power!

Dunno I guess it depends if your the type who actualy enjoys popping new CPU's into their system for a play, quite boring to some but fully enjoyable to others.

Get that Wolfdale and just buy a few extra mince pies! :p

I'm on my eee and as we speak i'm running my new second rig with a E5200 @ 3.5ghz, and i'm reasonably new to overclocking, this is the highest i've gone. I love this processor already, compared to my Q6600 on an nforce mobo it's a dream to overclock.

Looking at this and what people have said about 2180's it may well be my mobo thats holding me back, maybe worth me spending the money on that instead?
