Whats the Difference between versions of Vista?

I was looking for an answer from someone with experience,that could cut through the Jargon etc.

I am well aware of how to use Google Knubje, In future don't bother with your sarcastic nastyness it's not welcome. This Forum has always been a good place for advice, until Now it seems.

The link that was linked for you explained the differences between the Vista editions.
 
Yeah that link probably does explain it far better than anyone else can so I'm not sure what more you want? If you hover over the features list on the left it gives a pretty good description of what it actually means rather than just saying "more fun".

I'll try and summarise the very basic differences though...

Ultimate - Has everything: media centre, encryption stuff, aero (fancy interface), dvd maker, games.
Business - Like Ultimate with some stuff cut out, mainly the media and dvd creating stuff.
Home Premium - Contains most stuff... just a few of the business functions have been cut out (like drive encryption).
Home Basic - Pretty much everything stripped out: No aero, media center, backup stuff etc.
 
As an addition to Ben643. The "Home" versions have no ability to join a domain. There is also enterprise, which is essentially "business" aimed at medium to large companies with a need for volume licensing.

There is also Starter Edition (which was only made available to the third-world IIRC), which is EVEN MORE CUT DOWN than home basic!

Then of course there are the -N versions (of Home Premium and Business), which have no media player. This was to get round anti-trust laws on the continent.

Sorry mate but you came into a computer/software forum where people know their stuff to ask the MOST BASIC of questions. I didn't know EVERY little detail about EVERY version but it's not hard to open google, type in the quesiton and read the first answer. Infact what I did probably took less time than asking the question on this forum in the first place.

I would say that this forum is still a good place for advice; the link I gave you (amongst the joke) is absolutley nail on the head, spot on info from the Microsoft site itself. It has ticks in boxes for crying out loud. Just looking at the "Jargon" now, we can see technical terms such as:

All-in-one media center functionality...
Have more fun on your PC...
Best choice for laptops...
Share documents and collaborate...

(You can hover over and explore for more detailed information)

It seems you have as much of a problem with my reply to your query as I do with your inane question. So let's leave it at that.

I appriciate your comments, but it can get very frustrating when you answer this question every other day. Can I suggest you use the forum search in future as it really can be quite useful and stop people from giving sarcastic comments. :)

Either way, you've made a good choice. HP x64 is probably the best version for most people.
