Hi all

Just a quick one that my Senior Manager has just thrown at me, She has a TT XL and would like the Western European maps adding to it.

I don't use them hence the n00bness :/

This is an older XL apparently and she has downloaded the Euro maps onto her PC, she has tried putting the maps onto her XL and it doesn't have enough memory, am I right in thinking she can just buy a bigger SD card and transfer the UK maps she already has and then add the European ones after?

Or even better is there a card available she can purchase that will have UK and Europe on?

The latter will save a lot of ****ing about on my part :)

Thanks in advance :)

I've got a TomTom XL Europe, and apparently it's not as simple as just inserting a memory card; if I do that on mine it tells me to remove it. I read somewhere that you need to back up everything with TomTom Home on the PC, then insert the memory card and tell Home to restore everything to that card.

Best people to ask would be TomTom themselves though.

Just copy all the files from the old card on to the new one, and then do an update/add the maps using TomTom Home (make sure you copy all files including hidden ones).

Don't know about the XL, but my TT 300 is a bit fussy about the cards, it refuses to work (won't boot) with a couple of different unbranded 1GB cards that work fine in my camera, but a fast Kingston branded card works fine.

Cheers, that's what I was looking for :)

I suppose a cheapo Sandisk won't suffice then :/

I would suspect that most branded cards would work ok, the Kingston one I just happened to have lying around at the time and tried it. The unbranded ones work in my camera and in my media card reader without a problem, just not in the TomTom for some reason.
