Bought the Premium Package a couple of days back.

I have the 360 laying on its side in a TV unit (where a DVD player would normally sit).

The front has 2 glass doors and the back is completely open....so I have been using it with just 1 front glass door open all the time, no issues.

The lad used it today and it froze about 3 times until I opened the second glass door on the TV stand.

Could be coincidence, but it didn't freeze again afterwards.

Thing is, this room isn't exactly warm and I am a bit concerned how the 360 will cope with summer! The power supply is sat a couple of cm's to the side of it by the way..... and neither feel very hot at all.

Am I best having it standing vertical? When it froze, I don't remember any different lights showing on the front....it just froze ala PC style.

Any info from you hardened 360ers would be welcome.

Love the console though!! :D

(Could I have some useful answers please, not interested in 360 bashing. ) :)

If it's freezing up after a few days just return it anyway to be on the safe side. The situation you describe as to where you have the 360 positioned isn't ideal... but neither should it be a problem.

Just take it back, and if the replacement is doing it then 'possibly' look at positioning it somewhere else.

EDIT - Would be interesting to know what was being played at the time as well, just to rule out a particularily buggy title.

I bought an arcade today along with GOW2 and it just says "disc unreadable" if i play it for more than 5 minutes. WTF? Its band new !!!

Mine did this with Oblivion way back when, a few days later it gave me the red smile, so sent it back to MS. Touch wood, this is the second one I have now and so far it has been as good as gold.

Pretty shocking quality really.

I left the xbox on for ten minutes to let it warm up and was then able to play 50 minutes trouble free. Will try again tommorow.

Oblivion sent my console into oblivion too!! (lame....:p)

I bought it again, but Im scared to play it because I dont want my new console to die like last time.

If a 360 is going to die, it'll die when playing near enough any game. Oblivion is in no way more likely to kill a 360 than anything else. You could still see 3 red lights even while playing something horrific like Superman.

Sure, some games stress the console more than others, but if it's going to die, it's going to die. My point being just play :)

Played it for about 6 hours last night (not Kungfu Panda or GTA) and it was fine, even with one of the front glass doors closed. Think I'll give it till after Christmas to see how she goes.

Being so new I assume I would get it swapped in store rather than sent off to MS?
28 day rule applies, or something?

Thanks for all the help guys! :D
