Are you allowed to put up Christmas lights in your car? What is the official highway code / word on this?

In a word no, especially if they are red & blue & in the front of your car. If you do, a person in a car who is allowed to have red & blue lights on top of their car will stop you & give you a bit of paper which orders you to pay a fair bit of money & puts you on the way to losing your licence.

translation - its illegal to have red & blue lights on in the front of your car.
