Having read a little about this, mainly on conspiricy type sites but not only those, I was wondering if anyone else here had any thoughts regarding the gentleman's eligibility to become president?

I have no axe to grind here and certainly have no problems with a 'mixed race' president; in fact, I think that he could be a good thing for the USA.

If I understand it correctly:-

Only a NATURAL BORN American can take the office and there seems a little doubt about where he was born; some say Kenya, some Hawaii.

He published a SCAN of his short form certificate that has been the subject of some speculation as to its veracity, with a so called expert saying that it was a forgery and other somewhat partisan people saying that they have seen the document in the flesh and it is genuine.

Hawaii says they have his original certificate but will not be drawn on whether it it Kenyan or Hawaiian; it has also been locked away from prying eyes.

Given the doubt, one would have thought that he would want to dispel it once and for all by producing the original but it appears that it might take a court case to force the issue.

If he takes office and subsequently is found to be ineligible, then any laws he makes will be void, any appointments will be void etc; I can't believe that he's going to risk all that just for the sake of producing his original certificate.

Anyway, appart from the usual tinfoil hat **** that gets bandied around, any thoughts on the matter?

why do you care? are you American? It doesn't matter at all where he was born.

There is your proof there, the state itself won't want to break laws, they would've checked that and Obama would not have run if he wasn't a US born American.

George Bush Jnr wasn't supposedly able to sit consecutive terms...until he changed the law. I wouldn't have imagined this'd be a problem even if a mountain is made out of a mole hill.

The real problem was that he holds British Citizenship I think as he was born in british territory.

Either way, the courts ruled on this and said he was an American by birth which is all that matters now.

Who cares where he was born anyway, it's what the people want. The us have loads of discriminatory laws, you have to be 35 to be president, 21 to drink etc, it's just another one of their pointless laws.

If it keeps Arnie out of the whitehouse, it most certainly is not pointless :D

lulz because Bush Jr has been the greatest president ever and that having a whiter than white president brings hope proper and change....wait.

Please show me where the courts ruled on this? I must have missed it.
