A few days ago my virgin connection started to rufuse to work in vista. It works fine in xp on the same pc - any ideas what this might be? I remember this happening a while ago with my adsl connection and i had to increase the mtu or something. I'm completely new to virgin - is there a way to increase the mtu on a virgin modem or something similar?

Any suggestions at all would be very much appreciated.

how is your network connected together? Do you use a router or are you directly connected to the modem?

it's connected via a router but i have tried directly plugging into the modem as well. It's not the network drivers - up until a couple of days ago everything was working fine..

i should add as well that it shows that it IS connected to the internet. It's just that no webpages load, in either browser, and games / torrents don't work. I am actually able to ping via the cmd prompt...it's showing ipv6 limited connectivity but i can't remember whether or not it used to do that any way.

OK, you say that you can ping - can you ping an internet address (www.google.co.uk) do you get a reply from that?
Do you get a reply if you ping 208.69.34.203?

The IPv6 will not get an address (unless your ISP has issued you with an IPv6 address)
Try cleaner the DNS Cache (Start CMD as Admin, type ipconfig /flushdns)
Try using another DNS server (Opendns).

Let us know what happens

Cheers

That's normal as you'll be Using IPv4. That sounds like a DNS issue. Check the DNS settings on the vista machine and compare them to the XP machine.
