Media Center is Struggling BIGTIME with 1080p

Tried that and it plays the 1080p clips just about with a small amount of jerkiness but not the 11gb movie file. It doesnt load the movie file at all. Ive uninstalled core avc as well completely. Is that version of ATI catalyst the latest one or do i need a newer one?

I can't help thinking that you must still have a codec installed somewhere that's not hardware accelerated or is causing some kind of conflict.

Unless of course there's some problem with the audio codec side of things...............

Thats what I was thinking originally. Is there anyway to troubleshoot this at all?

This is an interesting thread - I also have a HTPC which is using some old parts, one of which is a 7950GT. Am I right in thinking that this can help in decoding 720p video? And that just installing the vista codec pack will result in the decoding being done entirely in software? My old single core 3700+ could do with a hand, although it is doing a decent job, all things considered. I never realised I needed to do anything to force hardware acceleration.

Your 7950GT doesn't support hardware h264 decoding.

Was implemented in 8400/8500/8600/8800gt onwards...

Well h264 acceleration looks to be working fine since it states 'DXVA2' throughout there.

Whereas it appears your file isn't encoded properly and doesn't work with DXVA correctly (there are tones of x264 files out there without proper DXVA support)
