Hi there, I plan on getting a case for my new build, I wanted something somewhat cheap, with decent cooling and nice looks. And I've come across the Antec 900.

However, Overclockers do a modded version of the case for £30 extra, with different coloured fans etc. Has anyone on the forums bought one of these cases or seen them. If so could they upload pictures of the cases and give me their opinion of it ?

If the case looks crap with the extra leds etc, what case would you recommended in the £70-£100 range ? Taking in mind that I'm gonna have a 4870x2 in there, so it will need to be a DECENT size.

Heres the links to overclockers custom antec 900's if you haven't heard of em, unfortunately they just have pictures of the stock antec 900 up though.

Thanks and reply soon, I plan on buying a case tonight :D

Tbh mate I'd avoid the 900 like the plague, its incredibly cramped and horrible to work with. Looked at Lian Li's? Although they may be somewhat out of your price range

Would be easy to do your self but interesting offer never the less, btw i agree that lian lis are beautful, but they're a tad expensive.

Going to throw in my reccommedation for the antec P182 here. Nice large, good quality case, though might not be the style you're looking for.

Otherwise, antec 300 and 3x120mm silent eagle fans. Then buy yourself something nice with what's left of your budget.

I seem to be getting mixed reviews from the Antec 900. I've made reference to it in different threads, and have been recommended to buy it, where as in others I am told it is cramped and has awful cable management :D :S

Unfortunately, I don't really like the look of the Antec P180, or the 300. So I'm going to have to think about this, or have someone persuade me for or against buying it :D

I owned one, for 3 weeks, tried to build a decent computer in it, realised its impossible to work with watercooling in such a case, sold it and braught a Lian Li PC-V2010B. I know thats out of your price range, so go for a g70. Great case, room for water cooling, and lots of modding potential. Also +1 for seeling a antec 900 with a 120.3 in it

the 900 is an ok case
the fans we install in there are a little quieter than the low settings on the stock fans

to be honest - the anted fans have blue leds the fans we fit have different colours depending on what you choose

its personal preference but they are slightly quieter

you get three fans installed for you and a cathode if you choose the option

plus the ocuk system builders put them together for you so a good job is made of it

good luck with whatever you choose

Personally i think the Antec 300/900/1200's are tacky, cheap and nasty looking cases. Same goes for the CM HAF 932 and Thermaltakes copy cat M9 and Speedo cases. I really like the Silverstone TJ07/9/10 but they are considerably more expensive. The Hiper Osiris is supposed to be a good case (as long as it does'nt blow up :D ) and that's a reasonable £84-92 depending on varient.

What it come's down to is that cases are a personal thing and really the only person that can decide on one is you. We all probably have different feelings about all of the cases and all we can really do is tell you if we like or dislike them.

For cooling the 900 is indeed a great case but it is quite cramped and sucks dust through the front like a vacuum.

The above is main reason I will allways suggest the CM690 over the Antec 900. As the stock fans are not the noisey leaf blower variety + they have mobo pin headers, case takes upto x8 120mm case fans (Four of which can be x4 140mm), better case cooling, dust filters are supplied, and case has better build quality than Antec 300/900/1200. :)

Its only cramped inside if you dont manage your cables,, I dont call this cramped, plenty of room to work in.....

Far, FAR, better to pay an extra 10-20 squid and get the HAF 932. Quiet even with the fans on full, and a great case if you want to watercool in the future.

Highly recommended.

Agreed. I would NEVER recommend an antec 900 again, they are small, badly designed and attract dust like, a vacuum cleaner.

perfect size for me,, not too small or too big, and dust if no biggy either, just spend £25 on a wickes wet n dry hoover and use the blower part. I blow my 900 ou ever 2months, its like a 5min job.

I have recently bought an Antec 900 and think its an excellent air cooling case, crap if your watercooling tho.

The *new* version (3) of the case has a couple of pre drilled holes which makes cable management a little easier, but i heavily modded mine and after about 8 hours work you can't see a single cable in my rig ;) I do that as a bit of a hobby, it isn't a prerequisite! This included, drilling a hole in the bottom of the case for the fan, 4 other holes for better cable management and some mods for a reverse HDD mod.

I know that you can't mention other forums on this place, but the best thread i have ever read on the Antec 900 is available if you type the following into google:

'a positive look at the antec 900' and hit 'i feel lucky' this will take you to a 53 page thread of antec 900 modding which shows you how to do it all. I had great fun :)

If your not into modding and just want a great case, the 900 is excellent (read the reviews) and the 1200 is even better. Some people might not like the looks but in terms of the cooling, no one can deny its good.

** EDIT: Just had a look at the OC version, from what i can tell all your getting for the money is extra fans. Not really worth it in my oppinion as the stock fans are pretty good. Only get it if you don't like the Blue LED fans. OC would make a lot more money if they offered an antec with pre-drilled holes ... especially one near the power supply for easy cable routing.
