Blu Ray Player and recorder in one?

Do they exist? Ideally a HDD recorder with blu ray player.

Do Blu Ray players also play DVDs (and upscale them)? Oh, and supports USB video.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Blu ray players will play normal DVD's, I think most of them upscale too

Not sure on the other questions though

BR / HDD Recorders exist, mianly sold in Japan although I did read of one being released a short while ago in Europe (not sure if it actually happened though because of the economic climate downturn, being a relative luxery item at present)

Yes All BR players can play DVD also, I think its usually better to allow the TV or display to upscale, but I think by default all BR players would HAVE to upscale to some degree

USB video has got nothing to do with BR - so its down to each player whether the manufacturer includes it or not

I've not seen any Blu-y and HDD players yet, butth again, I guess at what would be getting on for about £700 is not surprising if you take the Yen prices into consideration...

PlayStation 3 + upgraded HDD + PlayTV.

Plays Blu-Ray disks.
Plays, and upscales rather well, DVDs.
Plays media from USB sources.
Ability to watch digital TV, and have it upscaled to HD resolutions.
Ability to record digital TV, and I believe copy it to PC.

And yes, I've noticed you're selling your PS3

I believe there's a Panasonic unit on the way. Price was mooted at around £850, but that was before the currency shenanigans.
