Call of Duty: World at War

I have decided I really hate the campaign on Veteran. It's not fun or challenging, it's just stupid.

Every single grenade will and right at your feet. You may as well be runnning through the game on your own cause friendly AI does almost nothing. Reflexes and accuracy of enemy AI just superhuman.

At least in COD 4, I felt like enemy AI were actually helpful. In this...

Anyway, I am on "Burn em out", which has to be the most painful level so far. How much longer do I have to go before I am finished. Am starting to hate this game in SP now, but would not like for my efforts so far in veteran to be in vain.

Pity, cause I qutie enjoy multiplayer, but even that, a lot of people now taken advantage of glitches.

Vet ruins all of them imho. The frustration starts to detract from how good they all are. I didn't find the AI anymore usefull in Vet than Waw. The enemy where as superhuman in no fighting in the war room as well and the grenade spamming on the ferris wheel was beyond any thing in WaW.

A lot depends of course on how you hit trigger points, I could get the AI to do quite a bit on WaW by hitting a trigger and hiding.

Mind you, I did play COD 4 on pc and not console.. so maybe better accuracy was helping me.

Been hours on "burn em out" now and am ready to throw my controller. Only reason I played in Vet was cause of achievements. Normally I don't play for achievements and now realising why.

Another thing that annoys me - smoke grenades useless. They still have pin point accuracy through smoke too.

The last mortar pit is a bitch on vet , the way i did it was to throw smoke then toast as many as i could move back when the crazy japs charge you and then if you still have a smoke left throw it around the corner where there is quite a lot left and toast them :p:D this part and destroying the flak 88's on heart of the reich got me very annoyed .

Personally I played through on Hardcore so that I could enjoy it but it was still challenging; also to give knowledge of each level. Now I'm going through on Vet and although it is very hard and the grenades are stupid, I am enjoying it.

Knowing the levels is very very important imo

I might very well have too. Problem is I don't think I can continue from where I am on an easier difficulty.

Yeah you can, just go to level select and choose the level your on. Select the new difficulty then carry on. You can then always come back to a level on vet later and try again. You don't need to do them in order and if you like can just cherry pick the easier ones.

Wait until you get to relentless, I cant get much further than the starting point and I have no inclination to play anymore veteran on it now.

The only reason why i completed it was to get zombie mode. Its mostly boring and too scripted tbh. Much prefered gears 2 and halo 3 sp's.

Just finished the campaign. Did the first 4 missions on veteran which is up to vendetta the sniper mission. Did the rest on recruit. This was because veteran was just plain silly, theres making the game hard and then theres taking it too far which veteran does. It takes fun out of the game by making it annoying and unrealistic and at times plain stupid. Yes it would feel good playing it but i cba with it. Its not a measure of how good a player is but more so how much patience hes got and nailing the perfect route.

I wouldnt have minded doing the campaign on veteran but you cant get the achievements so theres not much point.

.
Veteran mode is incredibly hard and frustrating on all the COD games, unless you have supreme patience. But why go to the opposite extreme and play on recruit, if a games to easy it will be dull? at least thats what i find.

Like Blackstar, I think Hardened is about right for me, bordering on difficult and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

That's been what makes a good gamer from the beginning of gaming, same as racing gotta find the perfect line.

Dont be silly, COD is totally different a racing game on a circuit. Skills is being able to reaction to any situation, not work out the point where 4 nades land on you and corner you simply by trial and error.

That's just like knowing the track.

Every game has always been about finding the "quickest/shortest/perfect" route through if you wanted the high scores.

Not really though is it.

You can pick up a driving game and instantly can hit racing lines and do pretty well.

On COD you can't just pick it up and play through it without dying loads. Part of playing veteran is like exploring, that is exploring a level to find the trigger points, enemy spawn/hiding positions/ who has homing grenades etc.

I enjoy veteran and currently at the bit with the last 2 Flak 88s before storming the Reich. However some people do find it fustrating, more so than others depending on play style I think.

FWIW I run forward and always aim to find hiding spots allowing my team AI to push on. Some people prefer to sit back and clear everyone out

You can unless you have hams for hands (or if you do then play on a difficulty level for your skill)

Like i said to get the high scores/top difficulty, games have always been about practice.

Just like in that racing game "pretty well" isn't track record first time.

Not sure really, think its because i wanted to unlock zombie mode as quick as i could :D

I really dont like the extremely linear way the game is designed, just no no no. Just get it over and done with.

Ive done a bit of it on hardened be it not much and found a less silly than veteran, but ill give it a go just for you. Suppose i wanted the veteran achievements

I think its pretty obvious you havent played a COD game on veteran Tefal. Instead your on your HD ready highhorse with blue rage player :p

Huh I played them through on veteran first time :/

But every game has always been about insane practice and doing the levels over and over if you wanted to write ASS on the top of the screen :p
