PS3 verses Xbox 360

Get both.

360 first as its cheap as chips and has the best back catalogue of the current gen consoles and said games can be had at bargain prices. By the time you are only part way through playing these games you will have saved up enough for a PS3 then you can enjoy the benefits of having both and not need to worry about missing out on anything.

I have both and while i agree there are more games and 3rd party ones generally look better on the 360 I still can't help loving the PS3 more. The PS3 just oozes quality and is a wonderfull media player. Owning a PS3 is a bit like owning a Apple MacBook it just feels special if that makes any sence!

Originaly a PS3 would have set you back over £400 but these days with some prudent shopping you could probably get a PS3 and a 360 for that price.

just to stick my face in...

playing fable 2 and noticed the 360's rumble was stupidly powerfull. Kept falling off my leg and/or buzzing my nuts to death.

anyway our student house has both.

ps3 used more, films wise (its silent..), home - doing running man at people and being called gay, whilst chasing them for half an hour. , games wise too really.

although fable 2 and some other ff type game being played a lot atm on the 360.

That fireworks game on the 360 is fun though. Same way as pool/breakout is on home.

if your mate has a ps3, and you wanna play online with him then Id say for YOU a ps3 is better. And yes the 360 still sounds like a jet. Ps3 is near silent. :)

both are good and have pluses and minuses, PS3 has a few good exclusives and blueray and plays all the cross platform games at a similar standard to the 360 (again, pluses and minuses) and PS3's are still quieter (unless the fan really kicks in!).

the 360, having been out longer has a superb back catalogue of games at very cheap prices, and now you can install games to the hard drive the sound issue is moot (if you even had a problem in the first place). the 360 also has the better controller (sans D-pad), i don't think this is really deniable, if you have anything other than 10 year old hands it'll be more comfortable.

but i'm sure this has all been covered in detail :)

edit: my opinion? while the PS3 obviously has the higher quality standard i'd still punt for the 360 EVERY time, great games, good controller, cheap console and there is nothing i want from a PS3 that i can't get from the 360 (and all my mates have one (bar one who is starting to regret it as he can't play online with us :p))

Yeah, you can either select 'Shut down system' from the main menu, or just hold down the PS button on the controller and do it straight from there. The 360 has the same sort of thing too.

Logitech Harmony.

Hit power off and it turns off my TV, XBox and AV amp :D

However this wouldn't work on the ps3 due to it being bluetooth

It will if you get one of those cheap PS3 remotes that use an IR dongle and learn from that - obviously youll have to keep the dongle in but your Harmony would work with it then ;)

ps3ud0

Completely opinion based, I prefer the DS3, cant say I have 10 year old hands either.

If you can afford it get both, they both have some very good games and a lot of fun can be had on either console both offline with a few mates round at yours or online.:D

PS3 is very quiet, 360 is noiser but if playing from the HD you hardly notice it at all.

Yeah get both, I play games on 360 and use the ps3 for all media streaming, awesome setup. I wouldn't bother with either though unless you have a hdtv first. Tbh I never notice the noise of either over the noise of a film/game. The controllers both have there pros and cons although to me the 360's is better overall, just dont try and use the dpad ever.

I found out how bad it really was whilst trying to play SF2 the other day :(

didnt read all replys but re noise even the better falcon chipset 360@s are noisy,, the ps3 is silent in comparison..

i have 3 xbox elites with the kids and 2 ps3s u never hear the ps3 even with game on hard disk the xbox psu/unit generates noise...

i think 360's have wider game coverage,, thats it no other plus the ps3 has it built in,, wireless/bluetooth/blueray/1080p/dual shock controllers now add that to the cost of xbox getting upgrades ie wireless game pad/internet/earphone (ps3 uses a lot of phone bluetooth earpieces) xbox only there own the new land of ps3 home knocks spots of xbox rip of wii....
