I'm just looking for some advice on what to get really.

I'm probably looking for a 37" or 40", but I guess I could cope with a 42".

Budget is £600ish but i've got no problem with spending less than that. 1080p would be ideal from what I understand.

The v4000 has smearing issues, and I wouldn't trust anything what hi-fi says. Not a bad tv, but the panny below is better.

What will you be using the set for and distance sat from it, please ?

Whatever you say, panasonic PX80 42incher should by up at the top of your list anyway. About £530 for the 37 and just over £600 for the 42. Awesome tv for the price, and if I had £600 to spend on a set I would buy this without hesitation !

Not sure, but should in theory be all of them. But at a smallr size it might be less noticable.

My Mrs may even try to get a 32 v4000 in the sales, at £300 it is good value, bit for larger 37/42 screens the panasonic plasmas are much better tvs.

Agree with -Ad- on the PX80. Awesome set for the price. The 42" can be had for £569 on a particular website. Go over to AVForums to check out user opinions on it too.

Hopefully getting one myself if i can get rid of my 40" Samsung LCD.

Does that include the 32" model? I'm currently deciding between the v4000 and the LXD80/85. :)

Funnily enough I've been looking at those 2 and after reading on AVForums, it appears the 32kdlv4000 is amongst the sufferers of the smearing

I think I'm going to get the Panasonic LXD80 instead

Viewing distance is probably about 5-6 metres at a guess, i'm on holiday at the moment so I can't say for sure.

42PX80 DOWN TO AROUND £500 in sales NOW !!!!!!!!!

Get over to HotUKdeals for the offer details, but that is a silly price, absolutely silly price

So is the 42PX80 a good TV?
We sit around 5 metres from the TV, we watch a lot of football and we have a PS3.
At the moment we have a 26" box TV which we are desperate to change!
If anyone could help me that would be great as it's well within our price range for £487 I've found it.
Cheers :)

Just about to post this. I NEED TO GET RID OF THIS DAMN SAMSUNG!!!! lol :D

I could pick up the 42PX80 right now for £499.99 instore. Damn it!

And i just got possibly the two best looking blu-rays (Blade Runner and Planet Earth) for Christmas! Gah!

They are great for SD picture, Im sat watching a 37PX70 right now and the PX80 is similar but with darker blacks I believe (same housing)

On a HD picture though I do notice a difference compared to a 1080p screen.

I've just found a code for use today, another £50 off. So only £449!

Is the code postable here? Or does it have the companies name in it? Cant seem to find it. Tried AVForums too.

There is a 10% off orders of £500 voucher going around (add a battery to get over £500).

I dont know the code though
Edit - MIRROR50 - £50 off orders over £500

Cheers bud. That one works a treat.

Only thing is, the other company that is a part of that group wont accept the code, however they have them in stock locally so i could pick it up myself for £499 instead of getting it delivered for £450.

May seem like a no-brainer, but i always feel better picking it up personally and as does my dad. Hmm what to do, what to do :(

Order it and save the petrol!

One thing i fear is though, since the price is dropping, they are obviously trying to shift it for the new models. I just dont want to be in the position where i get the PX80, then a month later the PX90 or something comes out at a similar price to the PX80 a month ago (like £699 or so).

The PX80 will last a long time right? (begging for reassurance here :))
