Going to view one on Monday at a dealer.

It's a 2004 model with 25,000 miles. It's going for £6,490.

Glass' say that this car in excellent condition should be around £5,640.

Now my girlfriend's stepbrother is the sales guy so we should get some good discount on it ;) Hopefully something like 15% off?

So are there any things I should look out for?

Just done a bit of maths. IF I can get 15% off and with the trade in for the Focus, hopefully I can get the figure we have to pay to around £4000.

Does it have a lot of optional extras on it to add value to the price, i.e. sat nav, technology pack etc? Glass's doesnt factor this into the valuation IIRC.

That is all standard stuff on there, no optional extras on that list. Seems a bit overpriced. Not really much to check for on the facelift 6 speeder, except rust around bottom of doors, check the bumpers arent dropping, and the alloys are in good nick as they are prone to corroding, Pretty reliable cars with the odd rattle here and there.

Was hoping you'd reply :)

Thanks.

Not too bothered about the odd rattle. My Focus rattles like a mother...

No worries, I've put stuff on here in the past about buying one, should be able to get a bit more cash off that one, the value of them has dropped in recent months. Check its got some good tyres on there as well you need them in this weather and my eagle f1's have lasted about 9k miles on the front so the wear isnt that great on them.

Oh also check for clunking from the rear suspension as the rear subframe is prone to going, although that one has only done relatively low miles so should be ok.

a lot cheaper as the recession takes hold and people cant afford high band tax and fuel ect
i really dont think theres much point buying a big thirsty car atm unless you plan on keeping it 5 years.with the way prices have crashed lately theres no way im ever selling my m3,i would rather keep it and supercharge it than virtually give it away.

How about physically giving it away?

Well there is, what if you need a car and dont want a crap slow thing?

just because something is fast doesnt mean it has to be really bad on fuel!!
i can get 35mpg out of my m3 on a run down the A1 to my parents and thats not taking it proper easy its cruising at 3000+ in top gear with a few overtaking manoevers every now and again.i had a 2.5 alfa a while ago and that wouldnt get near 30mpg if you did 55mph all the way and it wasnt anywhere near as fast as the m3.
i would hazzard a guess that i would get better mpg out of my m3 than the st220,really efficient engine
